It is. Just like the Chinese "internal arts" of Xing Yi Quan, Baguazhang, and Taijiquan, etc. (I learned this through my Taiji sifu). It's called a "fa jing" (deep, penetrating power) strike in Chinese martial arts. Really, different countries, arts and styles, but same biomechanics.

I believe Systema was created by the technology of the Chinese arts. Russia shares areas of land, that boarder with China... and its more than likely that at least one of these Chinese arts practitioners, taught this technology to the Russians... whom then incorporated it into their own Artform variant. It might have even been part of one of the Russians Secret govt. / agent training programs. Just like the US Military... The highest level of hand to hand combat training, is never seen at the lower ranks... as they are considered "Expendable" (cannon fodder). Only the highest level Operatives, whom are the most valuable to them... are taught the highest level of combat technologies. Furthermore... when such high level combat information gets out to the public... the ELITE tend to do everything in their power... to intentionally Corrupt it.. so that the general masses do not have the full "Real Deal". This allows them to always have a certain key Advantages, over anyone that practices the same artform. (as they can Exploit the now embedded corrupted "weaknesses" / flaws).

@@johndough8115 The Russians investigated martial arts from all over the world. When I saw the Systema punches, I immediately recognized principles of the so-called "Iron Sand Palm" of Chinese arts. But Americans need to know that there is no such martial art as "Systema". That's why there is no name, because there is no style. Spetsnaz hand to hand combat methods were trained mission specific. Their actual "standard" empty hand fighting system is simply combat Sambo.

I’m seeing some replies saying that there is not martial art called “Systema,” which isn’t true (it a swath of concepts & not meant to be “this exact technique for this exact problem” for the most part, but it is a martial art). As far as Systema stuff coming from China, it might very well be the other way around. For instance, the second emperor of the Chin dynasty hired Cossack bodyguards (he did an anti-corruption campaign & wound up with enemies on both sides, so he hired outside help).

There is a principle 意無意 or sometimes just 無意... There is intention but there is no intention. In this case if you want to (intend to) punch then it will not work as it will become a punch. You have to discard your desire (intention) to punch for the "punch" to work. I do like that they call this taijutsu 体術 instead of bujutsu 武術 as it does help with the intention of the movement.

This is the proper Chinese Fa Jin (Fahh Jinn - Explosive power) striking method. The only thing is... that its not just the Fist that you tighten. You learn to quickly tighten your entire body, for a Fraction of a Second, to create a much more massive Vibrational Force. This force, when coupled with an already fast moving fist/body... multiplies the Impact potentials Drastically. Of course, to get the Required Split-Second timing, you need to develop Fast-Twitch muscle fibers... to the HIGHEST Degrees possible. If your Twitch is even a mere 16th of a second off.. you could easily lose more than 75% of the Impact Potentials. When done properly, the OPs body barely moves at all. At mild levels... Internally, they will suffer a Burning Pain sensation... which could last Several hours, up to an entire Day. At heavy power levels.. it can cause severe internal damages. And at Maximum levels... it can Rupture Internals. Yes, Hitting another Human, is especially important, to making sure that you are used to the correct "Feel" and "Impact Reactions". It will also help in creating Iron Body Conditioning, for you and the partner, to be able to withstand heavier power hits. HOWEVER... For the highest levels of potentials.. you really NEED to do actual Barefist Conditioning. The first step, is slow motion, Bare Knuckle pushups. Start on Carpet.. then eventually do them on Hardwood or Concrete. The next step, is to get a Chinese "Wallbag". Its a canvas bag, that you pack full with Coase Grain Beach Sand. When struck, the sand will conform to the Shape of your knuckles... preventing Uneven Impact damages. However, right after that moment, the sand will become Hard like a Rock... when it can no longer move nor be compressed. Since the bag is mounted to a solid brick / concrete wall... all of the Impact forces that you released.. will be bounced back into your own fist / body. This will cause Internal stresses, that will strengthen your every bone and tissue... from your Fist to your Feet... and everything In-Between. This will create an Internal Pathway that is like Solid Iron... and so the Vibrational Forces that you generate.. will not be lost to Absorption and or any bodily weakness based movements. Basically, you turn yourself into a much better "Conductor" of energy. The use of Chinese Herbal solution, called Dit Da Jow (Iron Fist Lineament), is applied before and after each 1 hour bag session. It prevents the skin from becoming too rigid and brittle, as well as prevents any Swelling based injuries. It also heals you 3x faster, as well as speeds up your Internal Conditioning abilities... as well as produces much better density results. Always use the All Natural made Jows. Never use Synthetic Jows... as they dont work at all. Use of a Makiwara board, is not that bad of a conditioning alternative... But... the Makiwara board is often mounted to a flexing post. This flex allows for good development of Penetration Strength... HOWEVER... its not very good for Instant Impact forces.. because a lot of the impact energy is lost, from the post Moving / Flexing. If you mounted one to a Solid wall, it would be closer to a sandbag like result. However, the Makiwara boards material isnt as good for the Knuckles... as it doenst conform to the shape of your knuckles... like the Sand does. As such, the Makiwara board could cause the knuckles to flatten out a bit... rather than to maintain their naturally pointed shapes. The use of proper Combat Breathing, is the final "Secret" key to the Internal Training developments... and for the ultimate impact power potentials. Part of this is due to the tightening of the Abdomen area. Part of it is due to other tissues being involved. Part might even be the Air Pressure levels... in combination of the other forces at play. All I can say, is that the proper breathing might double your output potentials. I guess I should also mention, that you not only need fast twitch muscles for the Vibrational Aspect... but also.. for the highest power levels.. you need to develop your bodies Maximum Acceleration potentials. This is especially key for Short Range power strikes... where you dont have a lot of Runway. The faster you can accelerate your body... the more power potentials that you will have at the moment of Impact / Tensing.

Never let someone on purpose hit you in the area of your heart. Not a good idea.
@johndough8115

You clearly have never trained seriously, in the Combat arts. Please stop spreading Bogus information. The Chinese were doing this stuff for over 2000 years, and never had anything but incredibly positive benefits. Typical punches, are not going to easily effect the heart. Its very strong, and very well protected. Internal power strikes, are a whole other ballgame.. however. BUT... anyone that has lethal internal power abilities... rarely ever uses more than about 15% of what they are capable of delivering. That is far below the potentials for Internal Ruptures / Heart related Issues.

You're right, though. Not a good idea to be struck in the heart, especially with deep penetrating punches.
