Ep.23 1979 Ford F250 Restoration - Passenger Side Floor Panel Welding and Replacement
Finally welding in the passenger side floor pan section. Time to get over being scared and just get after it! Turned out not so bad if I do say so myself! What wasn't perfect is being sealed up with seam sealer anyways, then sound barrier and then carpet. So it's mostly function over form as it is. I'm happy with how it turned out for a first time welder on sheet metal. I did blow a few holes in the old metal, I let it cool down and hit it with shorter blasts and filled in most of those pretty nicely.

Just bought a 79 Supercab with all the mechanical complete. Not willing to pay $5-7,000 to have someone else do the body, so I'm just gonna putter with it. Glad to have found your project page. Thanks for the inspiration.

Not to mention doing it all alone . I have three daughters and I’m always alone. In real time I’ve got like three engines to pull. Looking forward to watching you pull that one😎

When you rebuild the engine just put the 400 crankshaft in it and a mild cam. It’s perfect power for what your trying to do

Thanks for the advice, sounds exactly what I've been finding in my research too. Not crazy expensive but worth it while it's out of the truck and taken apart. Bang for the buck is high!

Pulling the engine cuz it leaks like crazy! Not from a single part but all over. So it’ll give me chance to clean it up, seal it and make it pretty (paint it). Also clean and paint the engine bay while it’s out. 👍🏼

Troy, I noticed that your 351m still has the heat shield on the passenger side exhaust manifold that would connect to the original breather. If it is in good shape, would you be willing to sell it? I have been looking for one for quite some time.
