I like keeping everything uniform. i also like to start with new brake chambers. at least we know those will be ok for a few years. i like the name change. much easier for me to remember. nice smooth job ezra. have a great holiday!
@Ezrider3593 жыл бұрын
Main reason I went ahead and changed all of them was because rather than carrying a brake can for on the road repairs I Cary a half can and a pancake gasket much quicker to do in a parking lot should you have a brake can start leaking while you're away from home

My other half gets frustrated sometimes when I do a project, and end up replacing brake cans and then that leads to new slack adjusters and air lines.. If it looks like it's worn, it's getting replaced while I'm there. Don't want to take it all back apart in a few weeks cuz I got lazy or cheap.

Good video pal, I'm amazed how many young drivers do not know how to cage a brake pot. It's good that guys like you are able to share the knowledge

if you still have the air leak issue pull the orange hose out of the relay valve under the fifth wheel between the abs modulator valves, the factory paints the air line before installing cabs and then plug the line into the cab and the paint migrates to the relay valve and causes air to leak past the oring on the diaphram, excellent job on instructing others on how to properly install a brake chamber, only thing you did not cover is the two hole positions on the scam tube,

I have a long story that i'm going to make short on this topic... when i was young, stupid, and learning things the hard way, i decided i was going to change a leaky pancake in one of these without knowing about that 1700lb spring was in there. I got very lucky and didn't get hit in the face... it hit me in the sternum and completely knocked me out. I was ok after that so hard lesson learned. This was back in the day when the canisters were clamped together. Great Video

Another job you make look so easy. I always put anti-seize on the clevis pins cuz I hate it when they seize up either on the slack or the clevis. Not so much on the tractor but on trailers that might sit for a while. I actually found some greasable pins but are a little pricey compared to plain ones...
@psavel2743 жыл бұрын
Man, old red looks prettier everytime I see her. Nice job on those cans. I agree, makes sense to do em once as a set and be done with it. Less worries and you were already there anyway. Bummer about the vice, but I can't say I haven't seen shit like that before. Can't wait to see the interior go in! You have a Merry Christmas sir!👍😎
@w0560075683 жыл бұрын
I would agree with your general philosophy that brakes and steering are the most important issues where as most people are concerned primarily with will it start and move and give little thought, until it is too late, to be sure that they can slow, stop and park the vehicle safely whatever the size or type the vehicle happens to be! Excellent clear and detailed video on this topic, well done. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and all your family.

Boy do I remember doing brake chambers I hated doing them on my back. But then a company worked for had a pit and that made it easy. Over my 15-year career I probably did hundreds of break cans and a few that were rusty and crusty crunch cage the spring because the damn hole was all rusted out that one was a dangerous can got it off though without hurting myself or anybody else.

Mine is back feeding through the valve. I can bump the trailer valve and it stops. That is without a trailer hooked up. Guess I'm going to have to replace the cans on mine. That or the main valve feeding them at the rear end. Merry Christmas and looking forward to seeing Ol Red on the road. And you making videos of day to day trucking in it.

Great videos Ezyrider. Don't worry about the grippers who make pathetic comments about your work. Most of them couldn't run a cold bath without help. As for the comments about your workshop being untidy. they more than likely don't even have a wood shed. Great work and carry on.
