4 means "death" in Chinese, and it is associated with bad luck. In episode 4 (a.k.a. 3A), I talk about my 4 months of recovery, stemming from my apocalyptic breakdown on 4 March 2019.
Upon discharge from hospital, I was prescribed 50mg/day of Luvox (Fluvoxamine maleate). A month later, it was increased to 100mg/day and now I'm at 200mg/day.
Contrary to popular believe, not all medications used to treat clinical depression are "happy pills" and that they work immediately. Luvox is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) prescription drug, and works by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural substance (serotonin) in the brain.
Between 4 March 2019 - 10 July 2019, I've lost a total of 17 kilograms (37.48 pounds) in body weight, due to digestive system being affected by the sudden surge of serotonin from the use of Luvox.
Through this medication and regular appointments with my therapists, I've been able (to some extent) to contain and manage my PTSD and OCD. From constantly having over 5 episodes per day, I now have possibly 1 a day or even less at times, depending on what "triggers" I experience.

Thank you for all the great information! :) I’m on my third dose of Luvox 50mg for OCD, anxiety and PTSD, I’ve been falling asleep instantly after taking the medication and wake up feeling super drowsy. I’ve also lost my appetite, I sure hope the drowsiness goes away over time! So blessed to have found a great psychiatrist! ❤️ This medication has majorly helped me with my night terrors too already! Can’t wait to see how it does for my OCD along with my triggers!

Lovely Creature I really appreciate you checking in :) I just had to up the dosage last week from 50mg to 100mg, my body is really feeling the drowsy side effect. It typically takes about two weeks for that sedative state/all day drowsiness to go away. I’m praying this helps with relieving my ocd/ptsd and body dysmorphia symptoms :(. How’s it been going for you?

Thank you for this! I'm going to start Luvox tonight. Zoloft quit working, Wellbutrin is ok, but needs support. So, here's hoping! And for those of you out there... if your doctor suggests a duo treatment, make sure you ask which hormones they work on. I'm not trying to scare anyone, but just something from my experiences. My doctor tried putting me on Wellbutrin and then add Elavil. Wellbutrin works on dopamine and norepinephrine hormones while Elavil works on serotonin and norepinephrine. The problem for me is that my insomnia is bad. Norepinephrine is a hormone that helps the body wake up out of sleep.... well since both these drugs work on norepinephrine I basically didn't sleep for 4 nights straight. Night 1 was ok. I took it the next night and got no sleep. On the third day I wanted to try it in the morning. Didn't really feel too sleepy. No sleep that night either. Didn't take it the 4th day and the 5th. No sleep for two nights ever after I quit taking it for only 3 days. There is something called serotonin syndrome where sometimes a medication can cause too much serotonin and it makes you feel sick. For me it was probably something similar. It was just an overload of norepinephrine. So know your enemy! By that I don't mean the drugs. I mean the ways your brain can work against you. Learn which hormones do what. Then as you explore your treatment options WITH your doctor, keep a close eye on what hormones those drugs work on. Everything is trial and error unfortunately. Can it be scary? Yes. Is your mental health worth finding the help you really need even if it includes medication? ABSOLUTELY! Because you are worth it! It can take time, but I promise you that all of you are worth it! Don't give up! Stay with us!

So true! Months after I posted this video, I had been prescribed an augment drug called Seroquel XR to help with my recovery. It worked for a short while before I went back to just taking Luvox and then slowly reduce my prescribed dosage. I hope this will be the start of your fruitful recovery too. Thank you and please do come back here and share your experience ya? Wishing you all the best!... :)

Hi Shawna. Thank you so much for the kind words. I hope you've consulted with your doctor / therapist before you get switched to Luvox ya. Medication is only one part of the solution, as I have found out from my own experience till now. I've been going for regular psychology therapy and also readjusting my career and lifestyle to suit my current condition. It's not easy, but there's progress if you can pull through it. Please feel free to share your experience here too ya. Thank you and wishing you a speedy recovery. :)

Thank you so much I appreciate you and I hope you are doing well! This is a really great informational and you keep the video interested. I find the Luvox is helping a little.. I’m not sure yet.. environmental factors totally have an effect on me . Switching from the Prozac to Luvox feels a little better and most ssri....so bad don’t work for me I am very surprised but still would rather naturally handle it , one day.. one day 💪🏽💪🏽🎍👁🌿

i’m on 25 mg of luvox, getting increased to 50 at the end of the week most likely. i honestly thought it was starting to help a little bit in the first couple weeks, but i had a really bad anxiety attack on saturday. i cried off and on all day. ever since, i’ve been shaken up. i’m not sure if it’s the meds or just me. i really hope this med helps over time. i feel so unlike myself i have since march. i’m hoping this med can assist me in finding me again.

Dear Autumn... Thank you for sharing your experience. Luvox does take some time to really show its benefits, especially when you need a higher dose to cope with the turbulent low moods. I myself have been on and off Luvox, reaching a high of 300mg/day a year back. As just over 2 years and with the help of psychotherapy, I've learnt to cope with less reliance on meds. Now I'm on 50mg/day. The episodes may keep coming, but less in frequency and intensity. I hope you'll be feeling better as soon as the meds can help you cope, and that you have sought out therapy as well to arm you with how to ride those episodes and avoid it as much as possible. Please feel free to share with me your progress over time ya? I know you'll pull through and master your feelings soon. Take care and be safe. 💕

Hi @khairukam hope your journey is going well. Best to ask your therapist how you can cope as each person has a different reaction to Luvox. In my experience, I ate knowing that I would throw up and added on more soft foods to my diet like soups, jelly and such to make up for the lost food and give me energy. I lost weight but not so much the energy I needed to get through each day. Hope you can share your experience too. Wishing you all the best and never give up ya.

@@UnboxingDepression I'm still trying to figure out the best diet for me. Will update if I found any kind of diet that helps me. I myself not sure either my Gastrointestinal (GI) problem is because of anxiety, since i do have anxiety too, or is it the meds that causing me to have this issue. I try to keep my sleep cycle regular, eat fibre like grains or cereal, drinks water adequately, thinking of exercising, avoid spicy food since i do have GERD too. Thanks for the sharing anyway. Really appreciate it. So hard to see someone sharing his/her experience with luvox for major depressive disorder (MDD)
