This is pretty embarrassing to admit but I used to be one of those who wasnt hygienic for a number of reasons. 1) at first I couldnt afford asking my dad for hygiene products because he was a single dad struggling to take care of 3 girls & 1 boy. 2) i was bullied at school for it & I stopped caring about myself because i knew I couldnt do much about it & 3) once I was able to afford it, I became so used to being judged & not caring for myself that i didn't see a point in changing anything about it. Once I was in high school, my gym teacher started to point out my "flaws" (She was a female) & I started to talk to her about how uncomfortable i was talking to my dad & my step mom about my "private" life because i wasnt close to them and it was affecting my mental health. After talking to her I started to be more aware of my hygiene & I started taking care of myself better. Once I realized how important it was to care for myself, i also started to feel better about myself mentally. If it wasnt for Ms. G (my gym teacher) who knows where id be right now. Thanks to her im doing much better now than when i was younger.

There's nothing like a good shower...especially when you're feeling overwhelmed and frustrated. It just releases that pressure. Sigh☺

Stellar advice. It may be difficult for someone to get that burst of motivation especially if they're struggling with something personally, but I agree with you on the hygiene. It REALLY goes a long way, I can say from experience as well. I love listening to you giving advice & think more of the world needs to hear it!

I shower everyday but there was a time not so long ago when I couldn't be bothered to because I was feeling too depressed and just didn't see the point. This is such a great video! Most kids parents (mine included when I was younger) don't have the sex talk with their children. They aren't informed other than through school. Which is very unfortunate that parents are that uncomfortable having the talk with their kids, and then freak out when they do have sex and they don't use protection, but it was partly the parents fought for not helping out by informing their kids or telling then about all of the potential out comes.

I like listening when I'm traveling but if I'm just chilling at home its nice to see you talk.

I don't really agree with you about the showering part, because when you shower every day with soap, your skin can get very dry and you can even get eczema or other things like that. I do think you shouldn't be able to smell bad body odors, but just slow down with the soap.

Joey, I would absolutely love to see more guests. I LOVED the one w/ Jordan and Jake. Hearing you interact w/ them helps me learn more about you, and that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. Having your mom on would be cool .... but I'd like to see your brother on. I know he doesn't like being on camera (/mic) .... the only reason I mention it is that my brother is very special to me. He's my best friend in the whole world (many times he's the only person I have to ask to do stuff with - another topic). He would never appear either on a podcast or a video if I did that sort of thing ... but I'm always a little curious about people's relationships w/ their siblings. Generally people who are not able to shower are doing so because of not being able to afford too, or may have mental illnesses. As someone who is an advocate for helping people, I would normally expect a more sympathetic approach from you. Just a thought but maybe donating soap/ toiletry supplies to a shelter for homeless youth would help more people/ reach an audience of people who really need it :)

With not showering it's​ not like we aren't trying to impress anyone but its good for your hair to not shower every day especially for people who dye there hair. Sometimes being in college you have so much work to get done that you can't fathom taking a break for even 5 minutes because that will make you stressed not getting your work done, sometimes you have to plan when you have the time. I'm not saying I go 4 days without showering but I don't shower everyday.

For the shower thing, its really depends on individual habit. Some ppl shower at night n have a very fresh n clean body to go in bed, not bringing the dirt into bed. And some shower again next morning n some just wash the face n brush the teeth but not shower twice a day.

If somebody doesn't want to shower let them be. I mainly don't shower when I'm not doing anything but if I do I'll shower. If you wash your hair everyday your hair gets greasy faster.

random question.. can you get an STD/STI thing without sex

This may sound weird... but I just hate the act of showering. It gives me anxiety, and it always feels like the biggest part of my day to get over. I feel completely fine not showering. I shower every 2-4 days. It's not like I avoid it but I will put it off because I just hate it so much. I never shower in the morning either. Only at night. I always wear deodorant and brush my teeth. I see the point in hygiene but the act of having to shower or have a bath makes me extremely uncomfortable.

For your "sex ed" question, I can see how your question to your teacher might have resulted in you getting kicked out of class. Most kids will ask questions like that for a laugh or even poke fun at gay men and the way they have sex. It's one of the biggest things people make fun of.
