Doc Rob, I feel like I just got bitch slapped…..in a good way! ;-) I’ve been keto for 2 years and have lost 110 lbs. I have had 2 recent life altering events in the last 6 months and have gained 10 lbs, not once eating anything that wasn’t “keto approved”. I found myself eating ALL DAY, a hand full of nuts, a square of cheese there, a cup of bullet proof coffee! Looking for anything to break up the boredom of being locked down due to the “pandemic fear”. Since I was home with nothing much to occupy my mind, I started baking KETO DESSERTS - yum! They are delicious, and I have tested a lot of new recipes! The bottom line, I can’t do that, desserts have their place, on holidays or celebrations, NOT EVERY NIGHT! Since starting my LCHF lifestyle I never eat more than twice a day, most often once, and a bulletproof coffee has, to me, always been used as a meal or a dessert, never as an everyday thing. Well now down 7 of those nasty emotional 10lbs. I have rekindled my inner strength and THANK YOU for the reminder, the metaphor of two eggs a day brought my brain right into perspective! Love what you do to educate us on the real pandemic terrorizing our world, CARB ADDICTION! #DOC_CACA (DOC_Curing America’s Carb Addiction)

Definitely happened to me. . . . finally went full carnivore! Love love love the way I feel and look much more than Keto! Was starting to eat lots of almond-flour stuff and before you know it, I was eating "processed" food because that food is processed. Not to mention the oxalates that almonds contain, which was part of why I started having joint pain, fatigue, rashes, etc. Giving up all veggies and nuts helped me immensely.

The emotional aspect of food! I had a stressful day yesterday and suddenly found myself thinking about picking up a bottle of wine on my way home - and I know from experience that it will stall me flat out! But oh the stress! I ended up not getting the wine btw. But the emotional pull is really a force to be reckoned with. Snacking is also a pitfall under stress. Thanks for this video!

I’ve been time restricted eating, intermittent fasting, strictly keto and staying well into ketosis (as measured by my blood) but not losing any more weight. Lol, I actually worried that I wasn’t eating enough!! Granted...I only have 10 or 15 pounds to lose...so that might be a little harder.

Doc, thank you very much for the continued "straight talk". I like your NO BS approach - keeping it simple. BACKGROUND: I am 6'2", turned 49 years old in February. At the time, I weighed 247 and on my birthday, I decided to make my last year in my forties a year of rebirth. I had fatty liver, insulin resistance, excessive sweating, foggy brain and sleep apnea. I am Hispanic and diabetes runs in my family and in my culture. So, I wanted to avoid it at all costs because my maternal grandmother died of complications from diabetes. APPROACH: I have been on OMAD, walk briskly everyday for 2 miles and have tried to be strict about carbs, but the carb creep and occasional snacking are the culprits. As of today, I have lost only 15lbs, but have stalled-out at 232lbs. I will apply your advice from this video to restart, but what tests can I take to check my fatty liver and insulin resistance? GOAL: By my 50th birthday in February 2021, I want to be in the best shape of my life with all of my issued mentioned above - resolved at a weight of 210. What would you advice?

I was sad, but I did start losing weight. I do snack, but in very small amounts (1-2 oz. tuna, or 2 eggs, for instance). I can't function when I'm hungry so this works well for me. The most important thing is to stick with it even in the face of a perceived stall because your body moves at its own pace, even if you’re doing everything right. One thing that has really helped me is actually sharply increasing the amount of food that I eat from time to time to ensure that my body doesn’t simply adjust to what I’m doing. I intentionally eat more on the weekend because I’ve found that I get the best results when I’m in anabolic state intermittently, routinely followed by five consecutive days of 22-24 hour fasts with ketogenic meals during my eating window. That has unstalled any periods of stalling that I’ve encountered. For me it helps to mix it up in a controlled way to keep my body guessing and to force it to adjust.

Thank you so much. One of your best vids I think. Only question is....sooooo many differing opinions on metabolism will lower if you dont eat "enough" food. ????? Ive done my second day of OMAD !!!. It wasnt difficult at all. However I do realise that it's much easier if Im out and about, which is a bit tricky these days but managed it over last two days. Great great video.

Best Bloodwork yet gained 5 lbs and stalled: Triglycerides 37, HDL 80 and total cholesterol under 200; glucose 95. I started exercising with 5 lb weights x 1 1/2 hours per week x 3 months. I had lost 35 lbs and gained back 5 and to my surprise I have the best bloodwork in my life but I need to loose 12-15 lbs and I am not falling backwards. I keto and 1 meal per day on keto, and fast at least 1 day per week.

Also, if your weight loss has stalled on keto, it’s likely the nut butters, nut flours, and dairy. What works for me is not removing them from my diet completely, but eating them intermittently (they’re actually great for the times when I want to spike my food intake to force my body to adjust, and to balance being in a catabolic state most days with being in an anabolic state once a week to ensure my body that there’s no need to reduce overall my energy expenditure).

This video also shows how carb intolerant many of us are. Personally, as a type two diabetic for 20 years and insulin dependant for 13 years, I find that even if I sneak in a few olives, or even some greens, my blood sugar will rise EVEN THOUGH THESE FOODS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE LOW IN CARBS. Of course there’s always the issue of gluconeogenesis. Dr Cywes has taught me that I can’t cheat in any way. Even a cup of whole milk has too many carbs for me. Fact is, my whole body has been messed up through current medical guidelines and medication. Injecting 120 units insulin a day a few years ago. That was just killing me. Now I take NONE. It’s a battle keeping those glucose levels down, but hey, I now weigh less than I have done in nearly 20 years.

calories of course do not matter because there is a feedback-loop regarding satiety/hunger that makes you eat/stop eating. there are ways to forcefully mess with this control-loop so that on the long run you will gain weight while applying "established (fucked up) knowledge" for weight loss. on the other hand there are several options to apply that does not force calorie intake changes but induce things to change that control loop in your favor. standard keto knowledge is one piece of the puzzle but there is much more.

After a couple of months on Keto I stalled this week, actually went back, losing 4 pounds the week before and regaining it this week (I only weigh myself on Monday mornings). But I still feel fine and look fine and have considered that some of that weight gain may be muscle. I'm only looking to lose another 15 pounds at most in the next 4 months, so I'm not really disturbed by this little weight gain and expect it should start going down again next Monday since I'm only really looking for a 1 pound per week weight loss and that's entirely reasonable.
