TWIM has also helped me enormously. The simplicity of the method is wonderful. It helps us to let go of hindrances in an easy way, and to uplift the mind to a higher state while also transcending the mind and mind states altogether into a field of pure conscious awareness. This does take some practice, but is not complicated or complex.

@@JoshuaRichardson123 Well it has corroborated my intuition that there is a Universal Buddha Dharma regardless of sects. The TWIM method reminds me of Mahamudra so much, but all the dogma of Tibetan Buddhism which says that Theravada or foundational Buddhism is a lesser teaching or Hinayana seemed like Dogma to me. It helped me realize that the highest teachings in Tibetan Buddhism were right in line with exactly how the Buddha taught. Such an easy natural way to practice shamatha and the jhanas. I have been suspicious of the view many teachers have that the jhana practice is necessarily very hard. Now my intuition has been corroborated and I practice simply with confidence that I am on the right path regardless of what all the other teachers say from their biases. TWIM also reminds me of Dzogchen a bit, where the hindrances are liberated merely by recognizing them as they arise, like popping bubbles with a feather. Self-liberation upon recognition. I don't know about that, I tend to make more progress when I run fast! That bit was funny and relatable in regards to dreams though. I've had that happen a ton. Still, relaxation is important in practice, just not always in my experience. Have to learn the proper balance.

In my opinion, on the contrary, we should choose our teachers very carefully, and there are clear disqualifying criteria in many wise books. Otherwise we will fall prey to a cultist or a psychopath.
