In an effort to lower our carbon footprint and save material going to landfill we rebuild our foundation and footings from reclaimed building material... will it stand???

So neat, tidy and clean -- the ideal work site...plenty of raw reuse materials--right at hand..! Carry on... I predict a waste not , want not victory .! So...prepare the mantel...

Well it is what it is I suppose. We are sprinting to get the roof on, then we can clean up the site, take a break and take stock as move to next phase. Mantel is ready and waiting 👌

Thanks folks, it's when you pause knocking things and start building up from the ground!

I am amazed at your courage tackling the maze of piping and wiring you have everywhere. At least you don’t have to install everything inside, and on an inside wall, a definite advantage over building here in Ontario.

Thanks, once waterproof we will need to tackle those pipes and wires inside and out, id prefer to have them better organised for sure, and protected!

Hi, I've been following your progress, totally amazing! I think maybe the horizontal rebar is not a great idea, the rebar needs volume around it to be effective, it might result in cracking down the line. Just my opinion. The last few days must have been hard on ye, take care. The verticle rebar looks like a great idea...I'll probably be following suit, sometime in the near future.

Yeah, very confident on the vertical but the horizontal rebar was a bit of an experiment, like how a helical bar is used to support structural cracks in stone walls. Dont other than aesthetic cracking like you suggest, I think it may just be a backup in case any of the vertical piers seperate, like most things in this build, possibly a bit overengineered. We do have to point and plaster,,, months later now and we have still not done it. Be great to see how you get on!

How many Time-Team episodes to you hear Phil going "the wall has been robbed out" while peering in to some Roman or Saxon dig? It was the expedient thing to do then as it is now.
