Ep4. Summer in Kyoto vlog | Amanohashidate, Ine Fishing Town | Venice of Asia | travel vlog | Onsen

Hi Friend,
How are you doing? This is episode 4 of our summer holiday vlog.
We travelled to Northern part of Kyoto. From Kyoto station we took train to Amanohashidate. It is one of the 3 most famous scenic places in Japan. The meaning behind “amanohashidate” is “bridge in heaven”.
There is a mountain / hill near it where we can enjoy the view. To save time and add enjoyment aka excitement we took chair lift. It was so much fun especially when going down the mountain. 🤩
After exploring Amanohashidate we headed to Ine by taking bus. Ine is an old fishing town. To make our trip different and memorable we rented a “fishing” house. It was equipped with outdoor onsen facing the sea.
The next day, we toook boat taxi to see Ine from the sea. Waaoo it was so beautiful 😻. We are failing in love with Ine.
Due to thyphoon, there was limited seafood. But we still could enjoy sea cucumbers rice which was only available at Ine. The restaurant name is Bar Nagisa. Reservation is required.
From Ine, we travelled to Onomichi. It was a very long journey but we were happy as we were able to travel before typhoon came. Also, we were lucky. HELLO KITTY train. We got in to it from Kyoto to Osaka. 😍🤩
At Onomichi we stayed at Greenhill hotel. And not to forget, we ate Onomichi ramen for dinner.

Hi Shaun - yes Ine was wonderful especially during summer with the sunshine and holiday vibes. We booked through Rakuten Travel: travel.rakuten.co.jp/HOTEL/177984/177984.html?scid=mi_trv_conf_dhbook_002 There were other accommodations that are beautiful and potentially better value but got to act early! We booked 2 months in advance and were left with only a few options. You should check the Ine Kankou website as well 😄

Hi Kath, I’ve been searching for train that connects Kyoto with Amanohashidate but no luck. Can you guide me on the train part please? Thanks!

Hi, there are a few train from Kyoto Station. If you use google please change the timing to 8.30am. You will be able to find a direct train (Hashidate Limited Express Hashidate 1 towards Amanohashidate). Hope it helps

Hello, how did you book the small boat tour? And how much pls?

Hi, we didn’t book the boat tour. We just asked the fisherman on the spot when we saw he was taking passengers in. We paid directly to him. The exact spot where we took the boat is shown at minutes 16 in the video. It costed 1000 yen per person. Price might change since we did the tour last year. If not wrong there were 6 private tour boats there.
