The Jimny had a charm of being a journey, how things grow gradually. How to achieve more with less. Some of this charm is lost now that all happens so quickly (from a viewer's perspective) but I hope you'll make up for it in the coming adventures. Looking forward to those.
@RoamOverlanding3 жыл бұрын
This season for me has different goals, it’s more about my goals as a filmmaker, to see if I can produce an entire season of building and traveling on my own, in the most professional way I can. It’s very different to the Jimny because I didn’t know what I was doing at that time, this has not been as organic a journey for sure, but it took me way more work and is something I am very proud of.
@Cheeteach3 жыл бұрын
@@RoamOverlanding It all does look more professional and refined indeed, especially from a filmmaking point of view. It's just that me, and many others probably can relate more to the gradual buildup, than to the pro build cos of cost and time restraints. Still, a great job and I do hope there will be improv things and gold nuggets of overlanding practicality here and there.

On the bigger tyres, I guess I should wait and see how much bigger you go. One of the problems is that the larger diameter adds a larger load and creates additional stress. Plus, it now throws off the speedometer. One of the solutions to this is to use lower range final drive ring & pinion gears in the differentials to compensate. You may be aware of this already, but I just thought I mention it. Looking forward to next week's episode.

@Ed-wy2di3 жыл бұрын
Adrian, I think the back bumper was a nice to have but not necessity. If your new wheels are to big, then the spare is not going to fit under the vehicle. You might need to put it on the bumper. The jimny was an affordable vehicle with compromised space. Your journey to overcome that challenge was interesting. Everyone has a Hilux and now it is just a mobile advertising board.
@RoamOverlanding3 жыл бұрын
Ed, for me considering I didnt have a rear bumper on my vehicle at all, or any proper recovery points, towbar or step up to easily back and close my rooftop tent, I would strongly disagree with the rear bumper being unnecessary. I would prefer not to have wheel carriers in my way the whole time when trying to use my camping gear, or my camera equipment all the time when I am working. I am not going to massive tires, so it will still fit under the vehicle, plus an additional one on the front section of the roofrack. This vehicle cost me the same amount as the Jimny to purchase, so I would consider this pretty affordable too then. This vehicle is my business and my career right now, I am a content creator, I make content for all of the product partners involved in ROAM 2.0, that is my job and how I put food on the table, who else is going to take the products out into the push and get their marketing material? The whole fun part of it is that I get to document a process that very few people every get to see completed in such an astronomically short space of time. The reason I got a Hilux was so to see why it's the most popular vehicle, and I must say, I am absolutely loving the damn thing.
@Ed-wy2di3 жыл бұрын
@@RoamOverlanding I hear you and I see your point about the RTT. Hopefully you will share the break down of the costs, so that the average person knows what they are in for if they decide to go down that route. Me personally, I have an off-road caravan. My vehicle is standard with only a bashplate.
