I even stopped the video for the Canadian geese- 4 of us went down to Arizona golfing in the winter ( from Canada) - we were at a golf course and the managreress found out we were Canadain and demanded we take the geese back to Canada as the geese prefer to do their “Bizzness” on the greens at the golf course- we thought it was hilarious but they are actually very nasty birds, but being friendly Canadians - we share them with every body!! LOL!!

You're only the second person I have ever seen, that caught on garden peas. All the old books said you could, but I never had a sniff. One day in the very late 70's a stranger came down to our water, took out a jam jar full of garden peas and had an amazing session. The water was 3/4 of an acre and the guy had a net full but many of the fish were hybrids, a species very seldom caught on our pond. We never saw him again and despite many people's best efforts no fish ever succumbed to garden peas again, and I never did catch a hybrid from there in 15 years of angling. That's fishing!

I realise this is a very old video, but after watching it earlier this week I decided to take a few frozen peas with me on a pole fishing session to a small lake holding most species, including small carp, to 4lb. It’s a hard water to fish, not a commercial “fishing in a bucket” lake. After very little success on paste, pellets nor corn I decided to try a pea as hook bait. 32 Carp (plus 2 Tench and a Rudd) later I can safely say that peas may be my new favourite bait. The two other anglers on the lake thought I was joking when they asked what bait I was using. Thanks for the great tip!

excellent video. I've been telling my mates for years to keep it simple. they spend silly amounts of money on tackle and bait. The only thing I would say is get your landing net in earlier, that way you won't spook the fish as it comes up and closer to the net.

@@TAFishing So as promised Smith, have experimented a little over this weekend with peas, maggots and peas, sweetcorn and peas, and just plain old peas, and my findings are looking promising for the use of peas as bait for coarse angling. The caught species included commons, mirrors, Rudd, and a rather nice sized roach. Techniques used were float and ledger. Brilliant fun Graeme!👍🏻 Anyway, keep doing what you do look forward to the next video 👍🏻👍🏻🎣🎣

I've brought a cordless drill to the docks i fish from and drill holes to fit pole holders in the dock. The holes are small enough you won't notice them but it makes it real convenient to fish. You could use a threaded rod to hold your bite alarm and stick it in holes drilled in the edge of the dock. Just make sure to drill through the wood so water won't collect and rot the wood.

I never tried that in the USA but back to Ukraine where I Bulgarian by descent, was born, I would fish carp like this: get about 4 to 5 inch ripe yellow dry peas in the bucket, soak it in water overnight and in the morning go to the lake. would disperse that in a square about 15x10 meters some 30 meters from the shore. Right away start casting, 20 plus years ago that was, the lake was rural, and local officials gave us zero restrictions on the number of rods we could use. I typically would cast 10 of them lined up one by one. In an hour the bite would start, and I would absolutely go nuts trying to reel in everywhere, I would run from line to line like a jet engine was in my butt, so spectacular the bite was at times

I only like 9-12 kg threaded line. Works like a charm and no tangles.

My dad used to say you could catch anything with peas. You open the can and drain the water out. Spread the peas around and when the fish comes up to take a pea you grab him.

The unusual duck is a mandarin duck, although , not so unusual as many estate lakes will have them as residents left over from the days when rich house owners were up to importing all sorts of exotic animals to impress their peers and show off their wealth, just 'cos' they could!

I prefer back winding as I feel in more control rather than the slipping clutch method. Works for me having caught many double figure barbel including one of 13lb 13ooz. from the river Colne.

late to the party. I am just getting into carp here in California--if the purists don't kill them off. Peas. I fish the bays of SoCal for Spotted Bay Bass and the occasional Halibut. (Both are wonderful fish on light tackle. A 16 inch Spottie, or a 22 inch California Halibut (not the same as the Bering Sea variety), on a med/light rod can make your day.) One day while out in my kayak I ran across an Asian gentleman. During a discussion on techniques, he told me his secret for Spotties was green peas. I carried some for awhile but never tried them. Better to use my $4 plastic jigs, or $10 Japanese tail spinners. But, watch out Carp, here I come with my green peas. Love your videos. Between my 86 year old hearing, and your accent, I miss a bit of the nuance. Still--- PS On one of my trips to England while working for BAe, I tried to tease some Carp sight fishing on a fly. They ignored my unsophisticated American efforts.

You need to chum those carp up with some floating dog biscuits if you want one on a flyrod, but check the regulations, some countries don't allow chumming in freshwater. Glad to hear you are still out there fishing.

Thanks. I wasn't sure anyone would even see my posting after so many years. As I said, I enjoy your videos. They are informative and your enthusiasm is a joy.
