Near vertical incidence skywave, or NVIS, is a skywave radio-wave propagation path that provides usable signals in the distances range - usually 0-650 km (0-400 miles). It is used for military and paramilitary communications, broadcasting,[1] especially in the tropics, and by radio amateurs for nearby contacts circumventing line-of-sight barriers. The radio waves travel near-vertically upwards into the ionosphere, where they are refracted back down and can be received within a circular region up to 650 km (400 miles) from the transmitter.[2] If the frequency is too high (that is, above the critical frequency of the ionospheric F layer), refraction fails to occur and if it is too low, absorption in the ionospheric D layer may reduce the signal strength.
There is no fundamental difference between NVIS and conventional skywave propagation; the practical distinction arises solely from different desirable radiation patterns of the antennas (near vertical for NVIS, near horizontal for conventional long-range skywave propagation).
Yaesu FT-891 HF+50Mhz ALL MODE MOBILE TRANSCEIVER
The FT-891 HF All Mode Mobile Transceiver once again continues Yaesu's legacy for legendary receiver design in a compact package, providing uncompromised performance for both the mobile and stationary Amateur operator. High end 32-Bit floating point DSP enhances the operating experience providing a cleaner, clearer signal and reducing overall operator fatigue creating a more enjoyable environment for any Amateur operator.
Uncompromising Receiver Circuit Design Ensures Excellent Performance
• Triple conversion with a 1st IF frequency of 69.450 MHz (SSB/CW/AM
• 3 kHz roofing filter equipped as standard feature
• TCXO provides ±0.5 ppm High frequency stability (-10°C to +50°C)
Stable 100 Watt Output
The FT-891 provides stable 100 Watts (25W AM) of high power output. High reliability is assured by the transmitters careful circuit design with efficient thermostatically-controlled Dual internal fans and the die cast heat transferring chassis.

Congrats. Welcome to the Ham/Jeep club. You are going to love it. I ordered the tailgating table through your link. Glad to hear you are doing the low sugar, low carb diet thing. I use to intermittent fast all the time. Went from 210 to 139 in a year. I walked anywhere from 6 miles to 10 miles every day. A couple times I did a 12, 14, and 15 miles. I had US Navy shirts and pants that were 40 years old that I could wear. Went from 36 waste to 28 inch. Then covid hit and i am now at 160. People say I look much better but I don’t feel as good. Nowhere near. Skinny is the way to go. Food and lots of water made me feel much worst. I understand how you can become anorexic. Great to see your videos once more.

One of the attachments i have seen are mounts to the spare tire holder on the back(newer model ???). A scrap metal yard and or a local welder fabricator is my go to. You can sketch up your own design and tube dimensions. The hitch looks like maybe could use a 90 deg coming off there, either above the truck or square tubing to plate then round. Just ideas.

Glad to see you back Tom. All those new houses, there goes the noise floor. Have you ever tried apple cider vinegar on sardines? My granddaughter turned me on to white vinegar on them but ACV tastes better to me. Also kills some of the smell. Have you considered a drive-on mast holder? Do you have a trailer hitch receiver on the Jeep? 73 N4WLC Bill

Hey Locks! I'm taking ACV every day now and it's helping! I never tried it on the sardines though...great idea. I just drink it mixed with water before bed. Hang on to my next video I got a trailer hitch tube for my mast and I still have my drive on mast tube as well. Stay tuned.

Hi Tom. I have a 2019 2dr Wrangler. Is tailgate table difficult to install ? Also does it rattle much when you are driving ? Have been thinking about getting one of these for a little while for the same purpose as you.
@hamradiocq
@hamradiocq 2 жыл бұрын
So, it was kinda easy to install, but I did it wrong, I put it in upside down. Also, you have to drill a couple holes in the plastic panel of the gate. It's not super hard, but I didn't like it. Does not rattle at all. I think it's a must have for a jeep.

sounds like you are attacking the weight loss from every angle possible , I would add a backpack with about 15 lbs worth of sandbags in it and walk a few miles every week that way... I need to get an 891 or similar small rig and do some pota .. careful swimming alone, I swam across a river during a cold spell in may one year and the water temp was well below normal and it zapped my energy on lap #3...I almost didnt make it back across, about 50 ft from the shore in deep water someone on the bank saw I was struggling and threw a life jacket at me, I grabbed it...
@hamradiocq

Hey thanks dmb! Yes, people have no idea how hard I work at it, it just sticks around, sucks so bad. I guess metabolic damage. Anyway, Yeah, I don't like swimming alone, especially in a lake, feel like I'm going to run into a snake. Yikes!
