Wow this helps me so much. I'm making a game here, in Unity, and in it, there's constant meteor showers. I kinda guesstimated the pace of it, and how it looks, and mostly I did ok but I'm seeing from this footage that it actually slows down quite a bit as it enters the atmosphere, which completely makes sense but I had not thought about that before. I'll definitely be making some updates based on this new information. Thanks for sharing!

Keep in mind it is a fisheye lens on the camera. When it passes and is low on the horizon on the left side of the video I'd guess it is at least 50 miles north. Maybe even further but hard to know for sure without knowing the altitude.

@@JakeSeattleX19 ohhhh, that certainly changes things, thanks for the information. I've had some luck in the past applying filters to video to basically distort it in a way that removes the fisheye (for photogrametry and related tech), maybe I'll try that and see if I can get a more linear speed figured out. Doesn't have to be too accurate for my purposes though. If you'd like more information about removing fisheye, let me know and I"ll rant about it at length.

Are you certain it was a meteor? It looks rather like some space junk or debris or something; it's going much slower than I'd expect a meteor to be going. Quite cool either way!! Great grab and thanks for the upload!

Saw what looked like space debris from CDA ID . Must have been a skip before entering again over SEA.
