I was invited to the 2023 Proven Winners Creators Retreat last week and was given the grand tour of the nursery where all the hydrangea propagation magic happens. It was amazing! In addition to getting a behind-the-scenes look at the research and development phase of Proven Winners trees and shrubs at Spring Meadow Nursery in Grand Haven, MI, I had the chance to see some gorgeous hydrangeas living their best lives.
The garden of Dale Deppe, owner of Spring Meadow Nursery, is the next stop after all the "sciencey" stuff in research and development. New hydrangeas are planted and observed in his garden as the next phase in the selection process before they are considered for retail production.
I've never been in a garden more full of hydrangeas. It's a hydrangea lover's heaven!
