I wouldn't say he could do a real backflip based off of that. He was on a surface at least a foot above where he landed and although he did avoid turning sideways; he landed on his knees and didn't make a complete flipping rotation.

Backflips are the easiest flips though. Most people should be able to do them without much effort. Pretty scary at first though but much easier than a front flip, since you can see where and how you would land.
