In this story, the insistence is the most bothersome part, but in general, older people and especially conservative or well-meaning christian people are really attatched to the idea of the kids they knew growing up and having families. I'm also very familiar woth the feeling of being purposefully annoyed and then being told _I'm_ the one who needs to calm down. It's very rude, and another thing I see older generations doing.

The radiation one is fake! Additionally, there is a lot of misconceptions out there about radiation. I say this is fake because if this was really a big deal then everyone in the radiation field would know about it and neither my friend who is a radiation officer for a major medical facility or her husband who does shipping of radioactive waste have heard about anything like this.

I'd never be a parent, but my discipline would be either, demand she give back the remote(it's best to take action during the scene, because if you wait too long, a very young child has a harder time connecting correlation and causation. They'll think you're punishing them for no reason). Continued, If the tv gets damaged, offer to help with repairs or replacement, since my family was at fault, and to teach the child, set up a chore system or something so the kid "pays off" a small portion of the payment. Think the beginning of Animal Crossing: Population Growing, where the tutorial is Tom Nook making you do a bunch of mindless tasks to pay off a part of your debt that's so miniscule, it doesn't really contribute to the larger sum. It'd at least teach the kid to be more mindful of fragile electronics, lest they end up having to do another week of small child-friendly chores.
