One of my favourite builds. I run lipo, 1060 hobbywing brushed esc, and a Tamiya BZ superstock motor. My buggy pulls wheelies like crazy!

Thanks GAVIN. Now I've got to get a Tamahawk. I haven't even painted my Avante Black yet... I did pick up one of the Kyosho ESC's for my turbo Optima though. Coming from Japan and taking forever.

Try a heating the windows stickers with a hairdryer to get them to stick better I had lifting issues with my scorpion decals they molded better to the body with a little bit of heat

18:30 was gonna say... def use a soap/water solution and squeegee for bigger, hard to position decals. I use windex a lot, tbh...and works great for me. This car is awesome! Wish I could build some old school rides like these!! Wish some companies would re-pop some MORE of these kits for all to enjoy again!

I ended up Flipping the tyres to do the SandSuper lettering. I’ve also seen a Good year edition with pre lettered tyres

I had one over 30 years ago, one of Kyosho's best buggies.

Wonderful video Gavin!! The Tomahawk was my first hobby grade RC and what started the madness for me. I was not fortunate enough to build a nib kit, but I did get a rere Beetle that I made my runner. I hand make aluminum wings and also those rear motor guards using aluminum rod. You can probably find pics @ Kyosho Vintage RC on FB.

After seeing this and a few of your other kyosho vids I’m definitely gonna get a kyosho kit next as i’ve never built one. Just finishing a dark impact, then got a grasshopper and then a kyosho, but which one, ooohhhhh! #undecided.

Wow! What a beautiful car, excellent watching this build. Perhaps one of those Dynamite Tazer all in one motors would be a good option to deal with the ESC height problem!

Looks like a lovely build. Can’t find a unboxed one for love nor money. With regard to ease and quality of parts I highly recommend getting a higher end TLR 8th scale kit. The parts quality is second to none. The build is beautifully paced, intricate and in terms of fit and finish they practically fall together.

I love these, nice buggies. I'm currently constructing a Kyosho Assault/Scorpion frankenstein. It's fighting against me very hard. Also, you need to put on a thick Northern accent and say 'look at thaaaat' more often.

I had the same issue with the window surrounds lifting. Eventually I think I’ll paint them on the outside. As it’s my most driven buggy the body is pretty well used now anyway so if it looks a bit rough it doesn’t really matter. I also lost a screw from the underside that holds one of the rear wishbones on so I ended up thread locking them. Definitely my favourite car.

To avoid bubbles in the stickkers just spray the body with clear lacker after everything is finished.

Another great video gavin im a tamiya fan like you aswell put i have thinking getting a rere kyosho. I like the look of the kyosho scorpion.I agree aluminum up grade parts look great . I have just got a aluminum front gage for my reresandscocher. I can not wait for the nxt vid.

My first RC kit. Fun to assemble and they look great. Fast and solid but I did tend to find it back heavy and I didn't like the way it turned for some reason. That may be partly because of the loose dirt and rock I drove it on. Anyways fun RC for sure

All the kyosho re-release kits are fantastic to build👍 but the Achilles heel with kyosho is they are so expensive for spares or hop-ups😟

Anyway, I wish vintage rerelease kits would be somewhere in between Tamiya/Kyosho - a little too simple, for me at least - and Schumacher - currently building a Top Cat... A really complex and fiddly build for my level of expertise... Keep up the excellent work!

Hey Gavin, love the channel! You make me want to get some Kyosho kits they look great! I love the way you edit the vids, add in the manual & show the panning close ups of the build. But if I might make a suggestion? When you are talking to the main camera it is often hard to see the small details on the model that you are referring to (e.g. screws sticking up on chassis at 9m45s ish) & then locate them on the panning close up you add in. Thinking, if you had cameras recording close ups of your hands while you talk then you could cut to them in in the edit & we could see the bits you are referring too while you talk. I have no concept of how possible this is however. Maybe I just need a bigger tablet! Good luck with the full time move btw!

I believe RC channel sells metal rear cages along with stainless tie rods and a few other things. Not cheap though. (edit : saw you mentioned ordering a rear cage ) Interesting that yours doesn't have the Good Year sponsors on the box or tyres.

Does it come with a pinion gear for the motor ?

The wheels and tires seemed to just be there assembled. Sometimes they are difficult to get together.

I just got mine today but the diff does not work. After opening up I found one gear missing (one of the bigger gears inside). How can I get this gear? And how to contact Kyosho for replacement?

This car looks like it builds just the the Kyosho Scorpion. I had the original Cox/Kyosho Scorpion back in the day. I sold it to someone in the UK years ago. I do have the re-release Scorpion and I love it. I did buy all of the of the special parts from Kyosho. I really hate the bottom loading dampers. I got top loading dampers and also LEDs too for my Kyosho Scorpion. I am now building a re-release Kyosho Ultima kit. I am having the very same problem. The bottom loading dampers are terrible. I have ordered top loading dampers from Kyosho. They are gold in color. Your thoughts on this?

does the kit come with HARD adjust RODS ?
