I have been a nurse for 23 years with 4 of those years as a Diabetic Educator managing a diabetes clinic and teaching patients about insulin pumps and CGMs. We were not allowed to teach patients about low carb diets because it was against ADA recommendations. It is beyond refreshing to hear doctors that are not scared to go against the so called “truths” that are being pushed down our throats. I have Hashimoto’s and multiple other health issues to which I have been offered nothing but surgeries and pills to correct. I have been keto for the past 3 years and it has made a great difference in symptoms, but when we return from vacation, my husband and I are going full carnivore for the 90 day challenge. Beyond excited! Have been binge watching all of these doctors and taking notes. Thank you Dr. Chaffee and Dr. Mason for sharing your knowledge and for sticking your necks out within your peer community. Once you “see” the truth, you cannot unsee it!

@@murraypooley9199 can you go in two a little more detail? Carnivore or lion diet? Do you eat eggs and dairy or just meat? How long did it take for things to start changing for you? I went carnivore also, it's been 2 weeks for me.
@murraypooley9199
@murraypooley9199 10 күн бұрын
@@Kyarrix I have tried many different variations to see what difference it may make. With me carnivore variation does not seem to make much difference, in the short term anyway, like a few weeks. The important thing is to eliminate seed oils, junk and minimal sugars. I am often on strict lion diet but right now I am eating between 4 to 8 ounces of beef, 2 ounce of bacon, 3 to 6 large eggs, 1/3 liter kefir, 100 grams natural Greek yogurt, 4 ounces of butter, a serving of fatty fish ,1 liter of milk and 250ml of cream. All good protein/fat with a small amount of sugar in the dairy. I work physically rather hard for 6 to seven days a week and Lift weights (HIT) to failure several times a week for 2 hours, plus sprinting, so my energy requirements may be different than most. My body seems to know when the gas tank is full and I will extend the fasting and lower the food intake. Sometimes I will feel the need to eat like a pig. Sometimes I will cut the dairy and just eat meat only, with or without eggs. I do notice when on omad, my strength and waistline drops a bit, then when pigging out often make new personal bests and add back an inch to the waist. I think there is nothing wrong in varying the diet as energy expenditure and or fat stores change, after all that would have been the case with the hunter gatherer. They say at 69 years old, eating a lot of protein to maintain muscle is required. My strength has increased 25% over the last 3.5 years, and health markers have all optimized, that is my yard stick as to what is working.

Great stuff. I went keto then carnivore during 2022. At 58 my kidney function came back from almost stage 3 failure to normal. Ceased BP meds after 200/120 the year before. Anxiety/depression evaporated lost weight and all the other carnivore goodies. So, my 81 year old father over Christmas had terribly painful diverticula. Convinced him to cease carbs, grains, plants and most importantly stop the fiber to rest his gut. Now, 3 weeks later he has already ceased his blood pressure meds, gut pain almost gone and is on the carnivore bandwagon. So good.

@@jenrich111 it is remarkable, but it has been described in the medical literature that you could reverse RA with a red meat and water diet since the 1800s, and for decades after that. True. It is one of the things that makes him unique for someone who is XY. He must be the exception that proves the rule. Dr. Westman does not have that many guests, but he also does not interrupt. In the interests of fair play, I have to admit that I do interrupt frequently and I am a woman. But I am the exception to the rule that most women are far less likely to interrupt. Wives interrupting husbands at home does not count.

I’m down to pepper and the guar gum in cream cheese. I’m hoping I can find a good recipe for a cream cheese and hopefully I can just start acquiring the taste for it without cheese or peppers. 😅 I’m hoping to cut out cheese. Thank-you so so much! I am a Clinical Herbal Therapist! Two months ago I started a Ketovore diet. As you can well imagine what a huge crush to me in learning that plants are trying to kill us!! I am still coming to terms with this information. I have seen huge changes, but am still having symptoms. I appreciate that milk, eggs, fish, seafood, nuts and seed/coffee are and can be a lot of my problems. I will phase out the herbs, but am still using for specific ailments. I have a lot to learn. I have three autoimmune conditions. I am 65 and have been using thyroid medication for 50 years! Thanks for opening my eyes!!

I want to be an encouragement and I hope I accomplish this: eventually over time you will find you won’t need your supplements, and if you were wanting to reduce the medication, it might be beneficial to get tested several times a year to readjust your prescription. Eventually your body might start having an immediate reaction to the plants you consume, whether they be through supplements or spices and oils. A lot of people mistakenly assume it’s the meat and fat, but eliminating the plants in all forms will eliminate the issues. I don’t react to coffee that I know of. I have only tested it twice for 30 days each. I need to do a longer test! Dairy might really have an impact on my inflammation, so I am taking a break for the next 30 days and see if more weight comes off. My first 30 days eating carnivore, I dropped 20lbs and all inflammation. I was still drinking coffee with butter, egg, and heavy whipping cream. The next 30 days I dropped another 15 lbs. I am 11 months eating this way and I have histamine like reaction to spices, some herbs, and smoked meat. I also learned about oxalate dumping. As long as you are taking herbal supplements, you will not start dumping accumulated oxalates which could be causing a lot of your inflammation besides sugars and carbs. So my thoughts are to taper off and wean off slowly. Look up what symptoms are caused by oxalate dumping to keep track of if you are experiencing these issues. Welcome to the healing of your life!!

"everything you learned in medical school was not picture perfect." I've observed that many physicians on the fringes of the BigFood/Pharma/HealthCare conglomerate are starting to call out the fact that western medicine has been reduced to a tool for big Pharma/Food. Doctors prescribe meds prior to discussing diet with patients. Walk into any hospital and you see overweight patients wobbling around with canes or in wheelchairs. Thank you for your bravery and I hope that the FDA and universities are one day held accountable for perpetuating faulty research and neglecting to find the SOURCE of illness as opposed to highly profitable treatments. As a RN I dream of working in a system of logic with doctors like you. I've learned a significant amount over the last few years about the topics you are discussing and it has changed how I look at the world. Now the plethora of metabolically injured look more to me like the homeless of downtown San Francisco -addicted and broken with only drug peddlers to sooth their ills. Keep up the good work and move forward with your studies - we are all counting on them to change things for the better.

Dr Mason’s video on KZfaq changed my life! Two years I watched his video on Saturated fats and I just went on a binge of his videos! He is crazy funny and relatable and super intelligent. Thank you Dr Paul Mason for pushing me away from my vegetarian lifestyle, my fear of fats and my fear of the sun ☀️ . I was on high dose oxycodone (and cocktails of other opioids) for 2 decades to treat chronic pain from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. going from a typical "Bro" diet to paleo, then dairy free keto, then dairy free carnivore while also cutting out all artificial sweeteners helped me get into opioid recovery. I now turn to exercise and beef to get my "chemical hits" throughout the day. Cutting all that out also helped my chronic pain tremendously.

Chronic constipation was one of my health improvements. By going 0 carb/ 0 fibre; no more suffering from life long constipation. On high carb I would go several weeks between BMs and would need regular senokot, restoralax, biscodyl, used suppositories and enemas,. Even while keto for 15+ years I needed regular interventions to have BMs. Now, almost 2 years carnivore and I’m having absolutely perfect, regular, BMs. Frequency depends on fat levels and always easy, no pain or bleeding. I’m someone who has seen vast improvement in inflammatory skin conditions concurrent with cutting out dairy, gluten and egg whites (and soy and spinach). I started that long before I started keto. I’ll say that for me, it seems to be the proteins in those foods that are the problem. I eat their fats (butter and egg yolks) without flare-ups, and believe I’m much better off for being able to include them in my diet. So I guess I’m advocating for going beyond words like “dairy” and “eggs,” to consider different ways of slicing and dicing foods that might shed more light on things. On nuts: ever since I cut carbs I’ve had more difficulty controlling my nut intake. It is much easier to eat 0 than to eat a moderate amount. I thought overeating them was a relatively benign little habit, because basically everyone has nothing but health claims to say about nuts. So thanks for informing us about phytosterols. Gives me something to remind myself of when I get the urge to snack on a large handful.

I've been on a diet of 95% meat/eggs for about a month, and became worried that for 8 days I had no bowel movement; I had no pain whatsoever, but I was nevertheless very worried that perhaps there was some blockage. The discussion of fiber in the first part of this conversation is immensely helpful for allaying my concerns. When I finally did have a bowel movement, the output was relatively small. I should note that as a 74yo person, I religiously supplement each substantial meal with 650mg of betaine HCl (and digestive enzymes). I recommend this supplement to anyone over the age of 60 since German and other studies have shown that the stomach's output of HCl at 60 is well under half the output at the age of 20 (for most people). Dr Mason is a remarkable scientist, imo. Thanks to both of you for a most enlightening conversation.

German studies? Studies on whom? Carnivores or standard western diet? People on the proper carnivore diet, of any age, generally do not require supplementation. Be very wary of "studies". Always read the studies carefully, including any small print and footnotes. And always look at who funded the study. Many times, the entity that funded the study, is the one that has a vested interest in the product.

I first came across carnivore a few years ago when there were a dozen or so KZfaqrs that we're carnivores. It seemed pretty far out and didn't grab me. But now I found myself looking at it again, I've been lowish carbs for some time, going the keto route but not really understanding the depth and scope of the health benefits beyond weight loss, so lacking commitment to full immersion. I don't have much carbs at home, but lately work has been having a lot of tempting carbs lying around. I don't have it at home because I know I cant resist it. So of course I didn't resist it at work and quickly put on weight and felt sluggish mentally especially. I delved back into carnivore research on KZfaq impulsively as I wasn't feeling good. I get a lot of exercise in my job. So that not an issue. I have been stunned by the videos, but even more by the comment section. Person after person after person reporting results that I have never heard from any other diet or activity. As a person with a lifelong interest in health, who has been a bit casual about it lately I am embracing this. I have been transitioning to carnivore over the last week. I'm lucky to be able to buy bulk meat directly from the meatworks.. Btw I had more than a decade of vegetarianism, then veganism. I immediately developed severe asthma requiring hospitalisation. Within weeks of going vegan. I didn't get the connection though. I persisted as it wrecked havoc on my digestion, my lung's and my brain. After a few years, I felt increasingly worse. I couldn't exercise without feeling sick. I'd been a gymnast and runner at school. Very high energy. Finally I had a dream. In the dream I went to the Dr. The doctor said to me in my dream "you can spend a lot of money trying to find out what's wrong with you, or you can eat this". He showed me a lunch box with beef, pork, and lamb in it. I began to eat meat again. But I realise now - still not enough. Despite not being carnivore, I no longer have asthma and I do have pretty high energy but brain and mental health are not as good as they could be. I'm excited at the possibility of improving this and reaching ultimate health. Been learning so much from this channel. I'm armed with science that gives me confidence to be carnivore, and to deal with the plant based pious. Thank you 💕

This was excellent. I was carnivore for about six months of 2022 and then fell off the wagon in a serious way and towards the New Year decided I would adopt a meat and veggie plan because I like vegetables and I still haven't been convinced about them not being good for you. I bought a new cookbook that was all meat and veg, a lot of veg, and found I just couldn't stomach it. I felt so bloated and felt like I was crapping money down the toilet literally. So now I'm back on Carnivore -- currently I'm doing a water fast just for fun and then I plan to hit it full time. Interesting about the vitamin D I recently just started taking it for the first time in my life and it makes me sick to my stomach so I stopped. I hike a lot so I get a lot of sun anyhow.

"currently doing a water fast just for fun"...maybe if I use this outlook I'd have better luck. No more thinking it as sheer torture?

I did a 21 day water fast years ago. If you get over the first three or four days your hunger switches off and it's easy after that. I stopped it when my hunger returned. Felt amazing.

Did this for a year. Never felt better in my life (I'm 66). Had many bad things happen and fell off the wagon about 8 months ago. Never felt worse. I think there's a lesson to be learned there. I'm getting myself ready to go again. It works.

Thank you Dr Chaffee for your reply before xmas, I'm still researching the keto/carnivore diet to help seizures caused in 2005 through DV after numerous blows to the head...I have slowly cut many foods out over the last 6 months but still haven't quite worked out the diet yet.
