Great information here. Absolutely SPOT ON. I've fell victim to almost every product you bring up in this video and you are definitely telling the truth my friend. Most practical information about detailing this year! If you are a weekend warrior or just getting started in detailing........LISTEN TO THIS MAN! He is giving great information here. Every time I go into my garage.......I cringe......because I have a serious problem watching KZfaq and then thinking "Oh man...I NEED this......and as quick as possible too! or "There goes that wallet going empty again!". I recently got to a point in my life where I just want to get rid of every single product (with the exception of a few quality ones I use all the time) and completely clean out my garage. Another sickness I had(have) is with microfibers! My wife is like "Do you really need 500 microfibers?!" Yeah......she speaks the truth once again. I have surmised that I really just want to find a good quality product line (one company) and purchase the basics needed to detail my vehicles from that product line. Keep it all in a cabinet neatly in the garage. Something like Optimum, Koch Chemie, Swissvax, Polishangel, Autoglym,.......or whomever. I am an enthusiast so I don't mind paying a premium if the product line is really good. But I truly need to consolidate down to the basics of everything including my tools, etc.

This channel is a gold mine, touching subjects no one wants to talk about or share but you go there and give us strength not to be pushed around. Good tools cost money which I think customers don’t realise then it takes skill and time to get the finish they want which is not always recognised. One thing I am struggling with is how do you go about getting a website so I can get listed with google business . Plus do you offer driveway training days so people can get hands on experience with yourself (similar to what car cleaning Guru offers) something I definitely would take up!

Good to impart some of that life wisdom you have collected along the way Dave. The simple formula though is 'don't buy cheap'. We've all done that and I am sure have bought stuff (I know I have) that turned out to be mostly pointless, either through deficient quality or lack of return through low use. Eventually (assuming possession of enough brain cells) we funnel down to the 'good stuff' and carry on from there. Making mistakes has it's upside too. You learn from them (the bigger the cost of mistake = the greater chance of learning from it). ... and yeah - those air fresheners do not last ... and smell crap ... mostly :) Big thumbs up Dave!

I have recently purchased a warm air dryer, it is really good for removing water from door shuts , grills, engine bays etc. It also works really well on coated cars, just chases the water away. But I agree that it is slower so I only use it on the high end maintenance details where my time is priced accordingly and not on the run of the mill valets.

You mention air freshners and I sprayed a strawberry scent in a client's Corvette it smelled nice. The Karcher 5.10 I just rebuilt for £200 and it's working great now but I stick with one make and then swap bits, as hoses are expensive. I have a expensive electric Kew its about 20 years old and use it for motocross and it's has never been apart and works great but heavy, but have it fitted in my van with a water tank it has never let me down.

@@epicautomotivedetailing Yep, just noting that not everything is bad. I always buy the best I can, but sometimes the cheaper stuff isn't all bad. I can share with you some of these experiences being a former mobile car valeter and being Too eager to please my regular customers with magic trees and auto smart blast cans they preferred smelling the natural interiors of their cars. Also buying very cheap nylon bristled wheel brushes the same experiences of tips cracking and dropping off and the bristles matting together- did you find the heat shield behind the brake callipers used to eat through wheel woolies and brushes?. I can agree with you that using an air dryer was time consuming especially as it was a vacuum cleaner/blower it added another hour on a job! No I have given it up and just concentrate on my car and my wife’s car in our garage. I have now binned the bottom of the range machine mart pressure washer in favour of my new kranzle k7/122 ts with all the bits and bobs and foam cannon- what a machine I wouldn’t go back to anything else it’s the best money spent.
@epicautomotivedetailing

Thanks Ian yes those heat shields were the biggest killer of brushes. I now got the thinnest of wheel Woolies which pretty much fits in all wheels now so it makes life so much easier. What people don't realise is not only do the cheaper products waste money they also waste time eg short hose pressure washers are a prime example. Thanks for sharing it will help others for sure 🙏

Good video. We've all bought 'cheap' things, thinking they will be great, but most are an absolute waste of money. I have a phrase That I tell people all the time, "No one was ever sorry they bought the finest". Buy cheap and you keep telling yourself, I should have got the good one. I bought a refrigerator in 1995, the best one out there. It still runs like it did in 1995. Lots of money, but how many refrigerators has the 'price conscious' person bought in 26 years. Buy a new car that doesn't have all the 'sh.t' on it and you be kicking yourself in the ass every time you get in it. Buy the finest and enjoy every day you have it.

I can vouch for the fake wheel woolies being a poor buy. They looked great when dry and were nicely made to be honest. However when I first dunked it into a bucket it shrunk down to a diameter barely bigger than the handle. This means that the handle then ends up very close to the surface of the wheel at all times. To top things off mine had the little conical sleeve thing behind the wooly head as shown in the video. The edge of which caught and flicked off the paint from two areas of corrosion on two consecutive spokes. So I've now got two very obviously different coloured spots on one of my wheels 😤

In my experience the only product that I’ve really really hated was meguiars ultimate wash n wax. At first I thought it was great; really foamy, smelled really nice and left a nice shine after washing. However if you plan on using this product along with a wax or other sealant protection etc. Don’t buy it. After applying meguiars hybrid ceramic wax to a fully washed and clayed car, a week later following a wash with megs wash n wax - the hydrophobics are gone! This is apparently because the wax (within the wash and wax) sits on top of the wax/sealant underneath. Therefore blocking your protection. I continued to have this experice with other waxes like meguiars gold class paste, BILT hamber and turtle wax ceramic. All because of that goddamn wash n wax

My worst buy was definitely a cheap crap patent copied Chinese stubby gun. I used it for the first time on my brand new cupra ateca's first wash having used quick release fittings before and the nozzle blew out and put a 20p size dent in the A pillar just missing the windscreen. When I checked the nozzles to the quick release fittings I realized with a hard pull they all came out but the lovely Chinese seller ignored the picture of the dent and said they will part refund me as a kind gesture which was nice ......... Too negative about most of the products. I'd venture a guess that most of you're subs are, like myself, enthusiasts. We're not necessarily fighting the clock or turning a pound note. We're simply enjoying our hobby. An air blower, for example, sure it takes longer to dry a car compared to a towel so I get you want to avoid it. I really do. But, for an enthusiasts it a god send. Not just for touchless reasons or engine bays. It has many uses that us driveway warriors can enjoy. I would have preferred to have seen, perhaps, the odd comment on how products can be invaluable yet a hindrance if under time constraints. Still, enjoyed the video and your channel.
