EPIK 2022 | First Week In Daegu - South Korea: Coffee Shops, Korean Food and Exploring!

Hey Gorgeous Girlies🌻
So I've finally got to my apartment, completed my first week at school, and moved to Daegu! I used this week to explore the village that I'm living in - Hyeonpung - getting used to exploring South Korea by myself and seeking out the cutest coffee shops I could find in my local area!

coming back to this video now that im 5 months into teaching through epik (and also living in hyeonpung!! so insane seeing you walk the streets that i walk through now!!) these videos really helped me a lot before i came here and now i'm feeling nostalgic haha

Daiso is lifeeee! Think it’s a Japanese brand but it’s all over the Middle East, that’s where I discovered it! Literally has everything you need

Daiso IS life!!!! I’m absolutely obsessed with it. ArtBox is also incredible however unfortunately there’s not one in my town😣

Wow, Daegu looks lovely. I will try your recommended choco pie if I find it in my Korea Mart. When I visited Korea, I ate a load of 'Lotte Real Cream Cacao Cake' (double choc) with a glass of cold milk. mmmmmmmmiss ❤Korea

I've been shopping at Daiso since middle school in California and had no idea it was in korea!! I thought it was just a cali/japan thing lol. Im joining EPIK in a week and just hoping they have a daiso in Busan because I simply cannot live without it lmao

Ahhh best of luck with your whole move next week! How exciting! And you’ll be absolutely fine - Daiso is everywhere in Korea😀 I live in the middle of nowhere and there’s even 2 in my small little village☺️

Does the EPIK program grant you full time residency (is your teaching job permanent?) or you signed a contract stating the number of years you'll be working /staying in South Korea?

So every EPIK position comes with a 1 year contract! This grants you 1 year stay in South Korea. However, more often than not, if you would like to stay additional years, and the school like you, they will grant another yearly contract! If you have anymore question please don't hesitate to ask.

Can one use the EPIK PROGRAM to reside permanently in South Korea?

@@phalengsetshoane5083 there are many conditions with the E-2 visa, however if you constantly renew your contract with your school, people have stayed in Korea for many years!

Ahhh this is so exciting! I'm sure you will have the best time ever (just like I did!) No matter where you get placed, the public transport is amazing and you'll easily be able to get around - so don't get too worried if you get placed in the countryside. You experience really is what you make of it. Best of luck!

Hey! Thank you so much for the kind comment❤️ So I started my school on a Wednesday, and my first lesson was on the following Monday. I’d recommend creating an introduction/about me presentation first as this was enough to get me through the first week until I found out my schedule/school syllabus😊 I hope this helps!

@@ungiphilemthembu6306 Amazing!!🤩 My biggest advice is to be open minded! If you get placed in a school/location that you weren’t expecting then just embrace it for what it is. I got placed in Daegu, however am actually 1hr 30mins away from downtown! However I’m appreciating everything: my co-teachers, my school and the fact i’m experiencing authentic Korea being in the countryside😀 If you have anymore questions don’t hesitate to ask, or follow my journey on Instagram!
