I've had this guitar for about 4 years now and here are my notes for you to consider: Pros -Sounds good, very mid rangy -Neck is comfy -Action can go super low -Looks amazing -Trustable guitar -Very versatile (I mostly play jazz and I have a super clean but very loud modern jazz tone. I played it with heavy distortion, breakup clean, crunch, traditional jazz, compressed funk type tones and it responded great to all. -It's affordable -Stays in tune almost all the time -Great wood, mine has good amount of flaming -Great craftmanship -Trustable guitar -It's affordable -Stays in tune almost all the time -Looks amazing Cons - Super heavy, it's killing my back. Not the easiest to travel with. I had to buy a good bass strap. (should add, all semi-hollows are very heavy) - Headstock is too big, you can't find gigbags. I had one specially made for it. - Mine doesn't react well to heavy strings for some reason, up to 11 is alright but I had problems with Daddario chromes 11s (daddario chromes are a bit heavier than regular). It broke lots of expensive flatwound strings. My luthier couldn't figure it out. It might be just me tho... -Saddle retainer wasn't holding the saddles right and I accidentally broke it trying to fix it. I made a new one from an old g string but it was hard to do. -Pickups are fine but not the best -Frets have a short life. Mine had one fret job (not a refret). Mine is 2015 made and has been with me since early 2019, I play it every day for at least 4-5 hours and I think it has less than 3 years left. Extra (not a pro or a con) -This is not a 335, this has a 5pcs maple/walnut neck and a maple sustain block. 335s have mahogany for both. Sounds much more mid rangy and way better for the setup to stay as it is. This is a different guitar. I like it better than a 335. Closer to Ibanez artstar. -Has a very thick polyurethane finish. -Not as loud as a fully hollow unplugged (Idk why I expected this) -It's easy to break the pickguard, be careful with it. -I did an out-of-phase mode, super great for funk tones and very easy to do. Would recommend. -Chinese-made and Korean-made don't have a huge difference, tried both and both were good. New ones are great too. There's not a huge difference between a rosewood or a pau ferro fingerboard . -Some people say the pots are cheap but they seem fine to me. That's about it. Great guitar overall, if you can change the pickups and the bridge it will be better than most gibsons. Mine already is! I recommend it, great guitar.

Great info. I've just bought one and can definitely attest to the weight. It's flippin heavy. But I knew this going in. What pickups would you recommend swapping them for? Mine came with the Probuckers which sound really good, but could definitely see myself upgrading down the line. Cheers.

I've been playing over 50 years. I own an Epi Sheraton II, Epi ES335 Pro, and a Gibson ES335, and there is simply not a $2500 difference between the Epi's and the Gibson. Period. In fact, I ended up selling the Gibson as I just wasn't using it. It was a kick to realize I could buy 5 more Epi's- or a really really nice amp, for what I got for the Gibson used. I don't miss it at all. For those of you who hate Epi's because they're made in China- don't forget Gibson/Epiphone is a USA company, so you're still pumping those hard earned bucks right back into the good old US of A, and the quality equals or rivals many US made guitars I have played and owned.

+Glen Rappold I, took interest in your post for a few non specified reasons, but, in light of the one that counts I ll ask in this text....In 50 years, puts you in the same time period as myself of sorts, Though in the reality of lthis there is a lot of time and gaps where music took a hiatus for me for importqnt considerations. The physical part that is. I kept the mind in the gam and read and update and learned through out the time. Now my point....In all that time no matter how it was spent in your behalf. What came to be the best guitar acoustic and best guitar electric and amp.....including pedals if your mind says they were important in the outcome of the tone you feel most appropriate. I realize I m making it a put upon effort, and I say with appreciation that I m trying to get my ONE TIME amp and guitar chose between a couple. But, I ve got the standard issue amps and guitars one each and I want to see if people find that the tone of one amp builder what ever it may be is the be all end all do all amp.... If you choose not to answer than I thank you for taking the time to read this. I love guitarists because I is

Thank you Wildwood Guitars. While elite players, pro players, intermediate & beginners alike appreciate the $2000+ instruments Gibson & others offer, reality for most of us is that we're looking for affordable, reliable, well built good sounding instruments. This Sheraton II deserves to have Mr Koch demoing it. It is a good guitar, not just a "good guitar for the money". From someone with over 30 years playing experience, thank you for this video. I hope to see more like it. WELL DONE!

“Roman Numeral II - dig it!” I definitely dig it, Greg. Any guitar becomes instantaneously salable when you demonstrate it. I had one (in ebony) half a decade ago (as of 2019), roughly the same time this review went up, and I foolishly turned loose of it. It’s demonstrations like this one that are now tending me to replace it (in natural). Extra motivated, knowing that the parts were built here in the United States, even if the guitar itself was assembled overseas. Also digging the Doohickeys. Had the pleasure of catching you at Victor’s in Paramus, NJ back in June 2002, demonstrating Fender Cybertwin models.

I have an '88 Sheraton II, the Epiphone by Gibson headstock model. I bought it new in '88, and never regretted it for a second. I have, however, had S.Duncan pickups installed, as the original bridge p/u left a lot to be desired. This is the Samick made guitar mentioned in the Epiphone Forums on the Gibson web page. There are people collecting them (!) at this point, although I think mine plays too well to just sit in a case. If I could play like Mr. Koch, me and my guitar would be happier than a clam at high tide!
