Episode 1: Strategy Quant X - Algo Wizard. How to get the most out of it?

In this two episode series, I talk about AlgoWizard module inside Strategy Quant X.
Learn more about Algo Wizard and how to use it to generate strategies that are constrained by the logic and the variables you allow. In the first video of this series, I will teach you how to use Algo Wizard to build your ideas step by step and see the results on the same page. In the second video, we will take what you have built and add the variables to be used to randomize the iterations of the same strategy and save it as a template. Next we will take this template and use it inside Builder module to generate thousands of variations of the same strategy.
With Algo Wizard, Strategy Quant X gives you the best of both worlds. A platform to generate trading strategies totally randomly, semi randomly or completely defind logic by you.
The reason I love Strategy Quant X are features like these, and they keep updating the platform and listen to users suggestions. I am slowly getting rid of multiple packages as SQX replacing each in every update.

Hi Ali. Thanks for this video. I've got a question about counter bars. I want to create this strategy with AlgoWizard. I don't want the signals to come in all at once to enter the market. For example. Step 1: Supertrend Buy Tendence Step 2: After at least 1 bar from the Supertrend, I want to enter the market with the Cross Bollinger Bands signal aboce upper line. How can I put those sentences? Thanks in advance.

the counter will act as true/false, if counter=true AND C > Upper BB then buy next bar at open

Creating a sample of different parameters, is that only with strategy quant? Or can it be done with algo wizard?

you can build a template with Algo Wizard that can be used in Builder

Came across this by random last night searching other things. Watching the videos now. Can these be used with Tradingview? Edit-yep! I see you using Tradingview. This is going to be interesting to learn.

Hi Robert, obviously all concepts are applicable to all platforms, but not all platforms can do the same tasks or do them better/worse. Just know there is no perfect platform, but I like Strategy Quant X for it's over all features

Can you use custom indicators with this software or can you only use the ones that are provided by the software?

Yes you can. You can program anything through Code module, but they working on something a lot easier like Algo Wizard, where you can add your own indicators through simple blocks. There are multiple workarounds like importing your own indicator data and use it as a second data stream in builder.

As I mentioned you can use Java to program any block inside SQX, Java is easy language to pick up, but am not planning to :) I was told that the next release is to squash bugs in current version (1.28) of StrategyQuant X, then the release after that should have the Indicator Building Module in it, and will definitely do a tutorial on it.

Algo Wizard online is meant as an introduction to SQX, I haven't seen the latest version of it, but SQX is a complete package with multiple robustness tests, portfolios, positions sizing, etc. you can always download a trial version for free and test it out yourself.

why do i have to pick a symbol when creating a strategy? i want to test this strategy against the whole market (against stocks, commodities etc). is this possible?

Does this allow you to use hiken ashi candlesticks?

yes of course, in Algo Wizard when adding a condition, you can chose Hiken Ashi (O,H,L,C) from Price menu

@@StatOasis thanks for your answer. I wanna make an ea using hiken ashi candlestick. 1. When hiken ashi candle sticks close above EMA 200 AND also close above parabolic sar. I want to go long and the opposite for short positions. I'm having problems with it

Can I use Strategy Quant X on a portfolio of stocks at once?

short answer is no you can't, however there is a way to combine several strategies into a portfolio or to test same strategy on multiple instruments, but you need to add each instrument separately one by one, also you can add multiple strategy results into a portfolio just to see the result, but both solutions are very cumbersome and time consuming.
