A "perfect" date movie will never be a RomCom (they have their place in cinema, but I think they are more snugglefests, than date movies.) A proper "date" movie will always be movies that bring you a variety of emotions for you, and company to gauge; and yes this means love, comedy, thrills, violence. (1996) Ghost in the Darkness is one such example, because it has depth and a range of emotions to dissect. Val Kilmer, Michael Douglas, and John Kani give astute performances. The movie gives you both a sense of danger, adventure, romance, and relief, that ends up feeling like a "shared experience." On top of that the movie even teed up a second date for you with a quote at the end, making it a full package. *Spoilers* ***** "If you want to see the lions today, you must go to America. They are at the Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois. Even now, if you dare lock eyes with them, you will be afraid."

You are right on that one! I think one of my favorite date movies was Top Gun Maverick. Great call on Ghost of the Darkness!
