This time, Chris and Amber worked on the refrigerator side panels and set the first base cabinet!

Experience Tip-I always make my fridge panels on all my kitchens 26" deep. This way a counter depth fridge fits better in the opening and so the counter top can die into the fridge panel. It's a cleaner and more professional look.

That’s a great idea! Thanks, Matty!

@WoodmereEstateRevival your welcome!! Ussually all stock cabinet lines have a 30" or a 24" deep fridge panels. I always order the 30" and have my guys rip them down to 26" deep. Not everyone had the budget for my custom cabinet lines.

Thank you for this one Chris! I just finished the same project and this video was quite helpful! I too hit almost all of the same obstacles along the way. Glad this one is over! Thanks again guys

Hey Chris, just a cautionary tip re: (door clearance) when attaching shallow wall cabinets to 24" deep fridge panel. Mostly relating to FULL Overlay Cabs, may require attaching a narrow finish spacer to the face frame of shallow cab to allow for this clearance since the side of fridge panel has no stile. Just sayin' and it may not apply here. Thx for sharing!

Thanks, Paulie! Thankfully, we had just enough clearance for the door to open all the way without a spacer. If I did it again, I would probably add a 1” spacer to give us a little more breathing room.

Thanks, super helpful on ideas and dealing with plumb and square issues of the room. In the preliminary phase of a kitchen remodel, waiting on cabinets.

Hey Chris! I’m running into a similar issue with the front being off the ground when holding the panel plumb. How did you end up cutting the end panel accurately and reduce any tearout (what tool)? Also, did this cause an issue with the height of the panel? Were you able to maintain a flush joint with the neighboring upper cabinet? Thanks for the help! Your kitchen looks great!

Hi Mitchell! Those end panels were definitely a little bit tricky. Thankfully, they were longer than I needed from the factory, so I could trim the top and bottom. I mounted the right panel first. I used clamps to hold it to the cabinet and then scribed it across the bottom with my carpenter’s pencil. I trimmed it with my circular saw with a finish blade. I used painter’s tape to protect the finish and a clamp on fence to hold me straight. I cut along the line with my utility knife first to prevent tear out. Then, I mounted the cabinet that goes above the refrigerator to the right hand panel and the wall. Finally, I clamped the left hand panel to the cabinet and repeated the scribing process. Both panels had to be cut flush with the top of the cabinets because we used a starter molding to hold the crown molding. Good luck with your project!

I needed to see this. Doing my kitchen now and I am uncertain about the fridge panels and how to fasten them and for them to everything. This is very helpful because I've not done this before. Are the panels on the finished floor or subfloor? And was the finish floor installed after the cabinet install? I'm not sure if I should wait and install these panels after the tile is down. Also considering putting a shoe on bottom of panels.

I’m glad this video was helpful, Phil! The fridge panels sit on the finished floor. We finished all of our hardwood floors before we installed the cabinets and panels. We did not do shoe molding on the panels, but you certainly could if you feel like it would look good with the rest of the surrounding trim. Good luck!

What do you do about the edge on the frame of the fridge panel? Do you have to have countertops notched around the frame? Right at the counter where the panel meets the lower cabinet
@WoodmereEstateRevival Жыл бұрын
We stopped the countertop flush with the end of the cabinet. You could have it notched around the end panel if you like, but we thought it looked better to stop it flush.

did you have a 1/4 lip on the side of your panel. Each of our cabinets have a little lip on the side, so does the refrigerator panel. If we line up the upper cabinet with the lower cabinet we have a gap beside the upper cabinet. @@WoodmereEstateRevival

can you tell me where you purchased your kitchen cabinets from?

They came from our local KraftMaid dealer. You can find one close to you here: www.kraftmaid.com/where-to-buy/
