love this podcast, and so happy for this episode, josh is my favorite crossfitter and good dude all around. I know you like to keep variety and step away from talking too much crossfit but it would be awesome to have some episodes talking to games athletes about the games and their experiences, both old school and new school (Spealler, Chan, Bailey, Vellner, Fikowski, Camille, Fisher, Wells and many more)

Actually looking at the numbers, as a percentage of population the UK has considerably fewer mass murders and deaths (both terrorist related and non terrorist related) than USA does. 27:25 Not saying that josh is wrong or anything, he may be 100% correct however i've watched so many Froning & Friends that i can't help but fact check!

but he made it sound like a country where you can own a gun is a safer country from terrorist attacks
@sevenmileshome
@sevenmileshome 6 жыл бұрын
I don't know if that is what he meant, he would have to say that and why he felt that way. However, if someone is looking to do something bad they will always go after the targets that are easier. In the military they are called soft targets, but it translates well to the civilian world as well. For example, France is one of the most lenient countries for immigration and social acceptance of cultures. They, well mostly their innocent civilians, have been attacked by groups who targeted them because it was easy to plan and action destruction with very little fear of failure. Belgium, similar. These countries have taken advice and training from the US and now are on a higher lever of vigilance, decreasing the opportunities for terrorist to plot mass murders. It is a level of security that is not obvious to people who have no mal intentions, but is a source of hesitation to terrorist or just bad people looking for the wrong kind of attention.
@brianantnssn5177
@brianantnssn5177 6 жыл бұрын
Yet the largest terrorist attack happened on US soil. Intelligence services stop terrorist attacks, not Average Joe with a Glock. This is completely disregarding several mass shootings every year in the US, not saying they don't or can't happen in another country but the scale of which it occurs in the US is undeniable. That being said, I respect the right to have guns that the US has, to each their own. People in Belgium (like me) can have guns, we just can't carry them day to day.
@sevenmileshome
@sevenmileshome 6 жыл бұрын
I agree about intelligence services, but what they do with the info is what stops terrorist attacks, and that usually involves someone with a gun (sometimes a glock). What Bridges was saying is specific to our country (about gun free zones). Many people die everyday through gun violence, we just like to broadcast it around the world for some reason.

Josh I love u bro and I have mad respect for u...but the whole “soft target” thing is just wrong...these school shootings and the Vegas shooting were done by and with legally acquired weapons....not well trained military criminals,who have tactical assault training and the ability to assess targets...they rely on the element of surprise and it appears they have an axe to grind...mental illness has big hand in it....posting and maintaining active military guards rather than arming all the untrained citizens may be a better way to go ....
@gdion8668
@gdion8668 6 жыл бұрын
chilledmonkeebrains I agree that most shooters do rely on the element of surprise but attacking a soft target (no gun zones)i.e., school, concert and or mall can make the attack more survivable for the shooter. You won't find a active killer going through with an attack on a NRA convention(I'm not an NRA member lol) because the chance of survival is extremely low. I'm speaking from my previous LE/military experience. I don't think everyone should have a gun but if ones does then they should train consistently to become a well trained good guy with a gun.
@chilledmonkeebrains
@chilledmonkeebrains 6 жыл бұрын
G Dion ...I hear u...my feeling is :i wud rather harden potential targets by posting visually “frightening “ guards and access systems so that hostile r stopped at the gates so to speak...I have 2 young kids in early grade school so trust me when I say “once a hostile is in there will be casualties “ ...a fire fight in a grade school even with trained teachers will end badly....why not use our own to protect our own...the military consumes %75 of our budget , let some of that work here...it’s the fastest fix bcuz addressing the 2 bd amendment is going to take a long time...i know there r gud people who like guns so it will take time to make solution...in the meantime we cud quickly harden the softest targets and lessen bloodshed
@gdion8668
@gdion8668 6 жыл бұрын
chilledmonkeebrains I believe we agree on the same way forward. Left turn soft targets into hard targets with well trained resource officers/security guards.
@chilledmonkeebrains
@chilledmonkeebrains 6 жыл бұрын
G Dion I prefer active military presence with checkpoints as access...I drove my son (1st grade) the other day...in front was a cop in his car...parked between the cops car and the front door of the school was a hertz delivery truck...the cop cud NOT see the front door or much more than the truck...he never left his car....I’m sure he’s a good cop but that type of presence is not what’s needed...it needs to feel and be military....the guns and killing potential are so the prevention needs to match
