With a normal multi cylinder engine your intake manifold is a reservoir that buffers the change in pressure. You could modulate the change in pressure by placing the sensor in a small chamber with a tube connected to the base of the throttle body.

My guess is The extra cylinder spark is due to a “wasted spark” ignition setup. It removed the need to a cam sensor, so it fires every time the crank is at a certain position, whether it is the compression stroke or the exhaust stroke. A cam sensor would be able to tell the ECU which specific stroke the engine is on.
@lnrbry
@lnrbry 3 жыл бұрын
That is exactly what i was thinking. the 2nd spark will burn the "leftover" fuel on the blow portion of the cycle for better emissions. but i dont know very much :D
@fredpinczuk7352
@fredpinczuk7352 3 жыл бұрын
@@ruben_balea It won't, the spark happens at the opposite end of the cycle, therefore when the piston is near the bottom stroke on the exhaust side. So no fuel wasted, if anything, it will burn off any remaining fuel before intake is opened. There are several car mfg that use(d) wasted spark, Ford Escort I believe was one of them.

I guess I should have been more clear. The ignition is firing at 26 degrees BTDC and then again a few degrees later. The cheapo tachometer is setup for wasted spark and it is still reading double the RPM. Now according to the laptop the RPM data it is receiving is fine. The trouble is most likely in the GY6 ignition module.

I certainly appreciate all the comments, thank you!. One thing I should have been more clear of in the video was the double spark observation. So with the timing light I could see the engine was firing at 26 degrees BTDC, then it would fire again a few degrees after while in the power stroke. The cheapo tachometer is setup for wasted spark and it was also seeing the double firing. The laptop computer connected to the ECU showed the correct RPM. My best guess is perhaps the ignition module was malfunctioning. Anyway, I'm well aware of wasted spark and that was not what I was observing.

Taking your timing off the crank means it is sensing on every revolution, hence the wasted spark. But no harm, no foul. You would need to drive the ignition off the cam to get once every two crank revolutions. I admire your trouble shooting skills. If it was me I would have set it on fire long ago. The double spark is due to it not knowing which revolution is TDC of the compression stroke, so it wastes a spark by firing every time the piston comes up. You also might want to try setting the number of squirts to 2. I didn't realize there were so many hobby EFI computers. I'm curious to see how the Speeduino works out. If it disappoints, maybe DIY Auto Tune can hook you up with a MicroSquirt

I had a car with pull start once, only once. It was a 55 Baja bug with a worn 36 hp motor. I stalled the engine while off roading in a sand wash and when I went to restart my battery was dead. The main wire on the generator had come loose. I took the belt off and took an old piece of rope I had and wrapped it around the crank pulley and yanked the engine back to life. The problem came when I had to put the belt back on. Adjustment of belt tension is made by adding or removing washers between the two halves of the generator pulley making the belt ride higher or lower and adjusting it. I put all the washers in to make the belt as loose as possible and turned the idle down as low as possible. I slipped the belt on the crank pulley and carefully guided it on the generator pulley… not carefully enough though because it grabbed my thumb and pulled it through between the belt and the pulley. Ouch! Had a black thumbnail for a while, but I got home! 😎

Hey if you ever want a cheap but extremely good carburetor you can pick up a PWK carb on eBay for like $40. They are sized 21mm - 42mm so you can fit them on basically any single cylinder engine. They use a D-slide and have amazing throttle response and power at both the top and bottom end (not even comparable to a good round slide carburetor like a Mikuni). I used a 26mm PWK carb on my 125cc mini bike and it gave power at both high and low throttle and didn't bog at all once I got it tuned which is incredible considering 26mm is way oversized for a crappy 2 valve Chinese engine. Jets are very easy to find and install. I know you're using EFI now but if you ever want to go back to a carburetor I would HIGHLY recommend it.

You can use (or make) a PWM fuel pressure pump controller to get the power consumption down if you need to. That’s what I’m doing with my single cylinder projects. It also means you can forget about having to plumb a return line. You have a single line, pressure controlled electronically.

Arizona The most beautiful place in Arizona: Grand Canyon National Park Easily one of the most recognizable U.S. national parks-and one of the most recognizable spots on the entire planet-the Grand Canyon has become nearly synonymous with America. We could tell you all about the sunsets and views and epic hikes along this 277-mile-long chasm, but honestly? This is one you need to see for yourself.

Rhode Island The most beautiful place in Rhode Island: Newport Cliff Walk The Cliff Walk is sort of a double attraction: On one side, you get panoramic views of the Narragansett Bay; on the other, you get to gawk at the Newport’s iconic mansions. The paved walking trail extends for about 3.5 miles, so you can easily soak up all of the sights over the course of one leisurely afternoon

There's a thing called a "boost bottle", you could use one on the map sensor line to even out the pressure pulses and make map readings a bit more stable. I've done it before on single cylinder efi.1 Keep up the good work.

@@kasuraga the small chamber on a T-piece will absorb the pulses a bit. Creates more area for the pulses to act upon, if that makes sense. Its just a pulse damper, single cylinder intakes pulse a lot.

That is a really nice TV btw. And in fantastic physical condition and operational. I have an old Zenith box-tv from the 70s. Unfortunately the cover fell off it an indeterminate period of time ago and the glass started to cloud and yellow in the UV light from the sun but otherwise mint.

New Mexico The most beautiful place in New Mexico: White Sands National Park New Mexico’s White Sands National Park is one of the newest of all 63 parks, only just officially recognized in December 2019. The sprawling area is the world’s largest gypsum dune field (gypsum is a common rock material that reflects light, giving the dunes their dazzling look) formed close to 10,000 years ago.

Hiya. I have been contemplating fule injection on a classic Ducati 750 GT for years. Your information is just what I have been looking for thank you. The bike only has a 150 watt alternator if it’s lucky and all my searching has fule pumps at around 8 to 11 amps or 100-130 watts. Having measured the bike with an inline multimeter at 4.5 amps 54 watts old coil system and 3.75A 45W new Boyer Branson system. I am amazed at your result of under 4 amps 50 watts for powering your whole system this would be doable on my pathetic battery maintenance system. I hope I am incorrect but I think using a current shunt may be giving you an incorrect reading. Yes through meter measurements can be fraught with danger but with low currents and triple checking settings more accurate. Or just measure the pump. Seldom the mad Aussie stoich freak. Thanks again in my mad Luddite imaginings an analog system with modern injectors would be good.

couple episodes ago "congrats on making a simple nightmare a headache" last episode was hopeful you'd get control of ignition and fuel with EFI... this episode you exposed they're selling garbage EFI systems (thank you!) now of course I'm hoping the "speeduino" will be worth a bang. my gut still says "don't" to turbo or supercharging, a) there is no pressurized oiling system b) the power they consume to push air gets subtracted from gains anyway its still a Briggs at its core, like an air cooled 1 cylinder VW engine... but the VW boxer does have an oil pump!

probably a dumb idea, but hear me out- use a double shaft DC electric motor as a generator, driven via one way clutch from the motor, this will allow you to use the other output shaft to drive the supercharger faster than crankshaft rpm under load, and allow for more mounting options. That supercharger shouldn't require much more than 1/3HP or so to spin, and that size motor should be capable of maintaining the amperage needed to run the ecm and wideband, and capable of at least producing a few pounds of boost when the engine begins to lug down.
