Man what a treat. I absolutely love your fills and walk downs to chords. I am a beginner player and try to listen and learn to your chord progressions so thank you for doing this series. I play mostly southern gospel with what little I can play but I am trying and will continue to play and practice with the help of the lord.

Had a pastor friend tell me years ago that Jake Hess "sells" his songs like Frank Sinatra. Some time later, I shared that with Jake Hess, and he said that was quite a compliment! Thank you for sharing your influences. I am blessed by this series!

The depth of those chords and melodies you just pull out of thin air is the reason I dedicated my life to music. I will never master music, I just keep trying to learn as much I can. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

Alonzo, you’re right, no one EVER masters music, we only swallow huge gulps of it (when we’re lucky)... 1) Music is the most high-level language that exists. 2) Music is the language that God gives me so that a) I can talk to Him and b) He can talk to me.

I came to an enchanted Castle but could not pass to enter. Suddenly and from nowhere I heard “the clap.” A drawbridge fell and I was compelled to cross. Over the Mote I entered and heard strange voicings dancing to fascinating rhythms telling tales of the making of something. And the more I heard the better I could see that this making was making me.

LOOK WHAT UNCLE LARRY STARTED! All the junk in this country right now and these guys rose out of the mess. I told my 10yr old son when this stuff started there will be some good in there from it , look for it. Buk and Gordon"s video are some of it. Thank you guys. You really got me to re-focus on what is important more than you will ever know. When this Rona blows over I'm going to be ready. Ready to go out and start playing live again with a purpose, to make people feel good and and forget all the bullshit that spreads us apart for a while. God bless you Mr. Mote and Uncle Larry.

Got turned on to Madison Cunningham through your recommendation! It was your favourite Uncle Larry who brought me here! Thanks and good wishes from Scotland!

Wow. You really took me back with Chicago, but then I really got caught up as you were going through Omartian, Linn - those great Amy Grant and MWS records. That was a heyday of wide open creativity. Now I am about to cry from that lovely Toto ballad. Beautiful stuff. Thanks for loving everything. That is the only path.

Awesome to find you offering your insights, Gordon! We get a great visit with you every time. You and I have Sweet Home Alabama, Roll Tide, and JSU in common, and we have met at your concerts a few times. Uncle Gordon thanks again for another great video. I was half expecting Uncle Larry to sneak up and randomly play some keys for you to replicate. I know you have or will get questions about all sorts of piano players. I am not a piano player, but my favorite player is Norah Jones. I'm not sure what it is about her playing that catches my ear but it does. I've heard her playing is very unusual or perhaps not the norm. Could you break down her style and thoughts on her playing? My 2nd favorite is Thelonius Monk. Like Norah he amazes my ears. God bless you sir. Have a great day.

Your content is fabulous! May I ask to suggest, try to keep each episode to about 5 minutes. I may be alone on this but I have short bursts of time I can spend watching videos. I make every attempt to carve out time for longer videos but it is difficult. Thank you for your consideration.

@gordonmote73664 жыл бұрын
jwparsons1 I don’t think I’ve ever played one in a studio, but I have definitely played them before in churches.

Just ask because we have one at home. Parents bought it when my brother and I took lessons as kids. Unfortunately I never really took off on the piano. Headed in the guitar direction instead. Is a doinky sounding piano one of those uprights that sounds like an old bar room piano in an old western movie?
