Shane and Marty are joined at ASU's Thunderbirds Complex by
Senior Design Engineer, Jacob Clarke. They dive into the R&D behind
s159, PING's most extensive and versatile wedge line to date. They
also discuss Jacob's work with PING pros and how it inspired the
development of WebFit Wedge, a new app aimed at simplifying the
wedge fitting process.

Absolutely PERFECT timing to drop these! I have just upgraded everything else in my bag to PING, and the last thing on my list were wedges. Tried these out at my local DICK’s store and cannot wait to make my purchase here soon!! 😃

What do you think of breaking out the Eye as its own line of wedges? From a Product Management perspective, they have different customer profiles. Someone who is interested in the Glide 2.0 / 159 shape is unlikely to have any interest at all in the Eye shape. They may have interest in the Eye grind sole but only in the same shape as the rest of the line (ex. Glide 2.0). On the other side, those who are interested in a true Eye wedge, are not quite getting the features they want from the recent few iterations since they are designed to conform to the rest of the Non-Eye wedge line. Unfortunately, other high-toe products in the market meet more of the requirements for the Eye wedge buyer. I would love to see the Eye ‘wedge’ be able to explore its own size, shape, offset, form, MOI, CG, bounces, full face grooves, and grinds (like Eye 2 vs Eye 2+, ISI) without being constrained by the design principles of the Non-Eye line. The Eye ‘grind’ should also exist if possible within the Non-Eye line, but that should be truly a grind option (and maybe hosel) that maintains shape with the rest of the Non-Eye wedge line. As the originators of the high-toe wedge, I would love to see Ping re-take the crown here. Cheers!
