Im an XUV 500 Owner and very much Satisfied with the car.

It is one of the best SUV in india competing successfully with the big giants like Toyota and Ford.

Xuv has a lot to improve. It has just started focussing on the European market - till then you got jaguar and land rover by tata motors to keep you happy

Indian car manufactures are begining to get the picture and are responding to some of the design setbacks. Mahindra is rather handicapped as it lacks the super brands, such as Jaguar and Land Rover with Tata motors, but Mahindra is responding to quality and and design in a more positive manner. its ending designs have shown great improvement and this shows. It is showing success in many ways but I feel their design and quality of material could do improvement. I am from Australia, where Mahindra is struggling, but I am hopeful India is on the rise and will compete with Japanese Korean and European auto industries in the very near future. overall this is fair and unbiased presentation and I enjoyed watching it. keep it up.

Ah!! It is a similar situation in India too. Most Indian buyers prefer foreign brands over home grown ones. They are kinda okay with the engine's burning in merc or the axle flying off from a brand new jeep suv, but quite intolerant with the Mahendra's or Tata's resale value and in it being Indian.

if ford or toyota came out with such a model theyd be going gaga over it. its just the brand value thats affecting sales. else Everyone I have spoken to who has used cars or tractors of mahindra has absolutely the best things to say about mahindra products. Brand value is coming slowly, it takes time but if you consistently give good performance you will be able to build brand value.

The auto reviewer is just missing the point. We in India are doing what you call frugal engineering...means give all the required if not desired features in affordable cost not only to those westners who are unable to afford to pay 50K more for a similar Japanese or European but to people in third world..So a vehicle should be reviewed from the point of view of a prospective buyer and not a discerning buyer like he is doing. Incidentally Mahindra has started assembly and manufacturing in Detroit and helping revive US auto manufacturing in a small way. Don't underestimate grit and determination of Indian

A lot of hurt Indians out in the comments section complaining about the reviewer's perspective. We have to remember that in terms of top class car making, we are still miles behind most advanced nations. Mahindra (or even Suzuki) vehicles sells well in India mostly because of their price packaging which is much cheaper than that of other international brands like Toyota, Ford, Nissan, Jeep, Mercedes, Range Rover etc. However, just because we cannot afford to or do not want to pay the proper price for a well made vehicle from a world famous brand does not make them any lesser qualitywise. In fact, most of our indigenous vehicle companies compromise with lifesaving safety features to make affordable cars for the Indian consumer. Most of these cars would be banned from roads in western countries for failing safety norms. We as consumers should know these things and demand better from our car manufacturers.
