It's entertaining to see how inconsistent Disney was with their Star Wars. They have characters from their other Star Wars shows inflicted with fatal lightsaber wounds and surviving. Then they have a Jedi Master in The Acolyte get overpowered, tricked, stabbed, and killed by a novice/intermediate level fighter using regular metal knives... Sure, she was stabbed in what appeared to be the heart, but how come the other characters previously mentioned didn't die from fatal lightsaber wounds? Especially considering how lightsabers were supposed to affect a victim's body if stabbed?

Even a child writer would know not to bring back a character that was already established and born way before the events of the time you want to write for. The time matches up for when he should be active as a Sith, even if its still as an apprentice. But the most frustrating thing about this whole thing are the shills pulling every strawman argument out of their arse to defend this. Disney qnd Lucasfilm get a scapegoat with "legends" and "canon." They can just blame them for the lore they destroy and their "fans" eat it up. There's a lot of franchises suffering at the moment, but with Star Wars its like you cant criticise it at all without being attacked. "Hurr durr well his age wasnt mentioned in the film, everything about his species is legends." So what? Still doesn't make sense and destroys what George established. What about Plagueis, he's canon and mentioned. The Acolyte takes place less than 100 years ago, Palpatine is about 50 in TPM, he kills Plagueis around the same time Maul is defeated in TPM as well. He's been apprenticed to Plagueis for most of his life at that point. This is basic maths, if he isn't the Sith pulling the strings then that's a major blow to the canon as well. But heck, what's the difference? They've already destroyed a lot already in 4 episodes and in the past, what's Plagueis not being a Sith when he should be matter?
