The Georgia Traverse is a route that was assembled by Georgia Overland starting in 2009. Now, it’s 226 miles of off-road travel on various Forest Service roads that are connected by 164 miles of pavement that traverses the north end of Georgia from east to west. We tackled the GT over a 3 day weekend and had a blast.

Me and Carver are wanting to try and do this soon. Thinking of going maybe on spring break. We live about 20 minutes from the eastern trailhead. Love how y'all interact. Looks like a great time.

Spring break would be a good time to go. We went very early spring and there were a few seasonal gates still closed.

Thanks! A lot of fantastic Overland routes can be done without 4x4. All you need is a desire to get out and explore!

Another great vid in the books! I'll be heading down to run it for the third time in about a month... but I certainly agree... the trail doesn't make the trip. The most difficult challenge on the trail can end up being the most fondly remembered, or the most beautiful, scenic location can be the specific thing you want to forget... all based on who is out there with you. I seriously think that choosing WHO you wheel with is as important as the route you take. I mean, they're pretty much the same thing. haha.

That's absolutely true. We put just as much weight into who is riding with us as we do where we're going.

There are some sections that weren't open when we made our trip. If/when we go again, it will likely be a fall trip when it's starting to cool off but before they start gating sections off for the winter.

@Spartan Overland Does hunting season interfere with the trails being open?
@SpartanOverland
@SpartanOverland 3 жыл бұрын
No it shouldn't. There are just some trails that close during the winter. We came through literally days before those gates were opened.

Hey! Welcome to Overlanding! We're going to organize a few beginner friendly local group rides this year. The goal will be for us to meet you guys, and for people new to the hobby to meet other like-minded individuals. Follow us on either Facebook or Instagram to keep up with when those rides happen!

Do you think a 4x2 TRD Sport Tacoma can get through some of the more difficult areas during the dry time ?
@SpartanOverland
@SpartanOverland 3 жыл бұрын
There is one section we had to bypass because it was gated, but other than that, yes. We purposefully took the more difficult lines for the video. You should be fine as long as it's dry.

@SpartanOverland
@SpartanOverland Жыл бұрын
You should be fine. 90% of the the route is dirt roads or paved roads. The few off-road sections all had bypasses when we went.

Never mention the routes or campsites, just a bunch of footage that literally. Could be ANYWHERE.
@SpartanOverland
@SpartanOverland 3 жыл бұрын
The routes are all readily available from Georgia Overland online, we ran it from west to east unlike most people who do the opposite. Campsites vary from trip to trip depending on your daily mileage and where you started from, but many of them are either on the tracks provided by Georgia Overland, or were coordinates provided to us by locals that they don't want everyone to know about. Sorry you weren't pleased, but thanks for watching anyway.
