Secret to a good yoke is to not boil it for to long . Around 3 mins will give you a nice runny yoke

Oleksii has teached Larry and Martins how to do overhead dumbbell press. There are a few videos of it.

yah but mitch point is he was naturally good. he wont be able to offer as much help as someone who built it from the ground up look a his technique, almost no one can replicate that. he flexes sideways so much and must have the strongest obliques on the planet
@Organon1980
@Organon1980 Жыл бұрын
@@moa3821 I know what his point was, and I agree with that point. But to say that Oleksii doesn't know why/how he's doing it the way he is doing it is well.. not true. I only mentioned the videos because Oleksii breaks down his technique and explains why he does it that way.

@@Organon1980 yah I think Mitch was exaggerating ofcourse. I'm sure Mitch is using plenty of technique cues on the yoke too

@bronchoped1 notice you said under 105. It's hard for the heavyweights to move like oleskei. I can't see Shaw or big z trying to bend like that

@@Organon1980 you're still missing the point tho. he was teaching the fundamentals in that video, but the micromanagement of the biomechanics is something that comes intuitively, and thats what Mitch is referring to.

I'm with you 100% on that strength below the knee making a difference for yoke. When I was a track athlete, my coach (at the time he was arguably the best sprints coach in Canada) always told me that my foot and ankle strength was my biggest asset in sprinting (I wasn't particularly strong in the typical movements that translate to sprinting and my stride frequency was quite low for my competitive level). Now, as a ~100kg powerlifter, I can casually jump in on a yoke session and easily get over 700lbs despite only doing yoke maybe once a year. It always surprises me at local strongman shows to see guys who can beat me in every other lift struggle with a yoke I could do relatively easily, considering that they actually train it.
@Nelarsen
@Nelarsen Жыл бұрын
yeah i mean, how many strongmen are actively training their smaller muscles below the knee? its an almost untouched upon aspect of strongman training, let alone weightlifting/powerlifting.

Mitch is Brian Shaw part 2. It is a blast watching him learn how to do this stuff and just going up and up at a meteoric pace. Barring injuries, the day is coming when no one will beat him; Not Big Tom, not Martins, no one. His potential is completely insane.

I reckon the impressive yoke is a remnant from the golfing years. Strong rotational focus in golf, and I would argue the stability/coordination offered by the increased development of the psoas major, erector spinae, lateral abdominal wall, rectus abdominus and so on, has some contribution to claim.
