As a frum woman who has been married to an electrician for (married at 23) 15+ years I was shocked and horrified by the response to the question “what about a plumber?” My husband has provided for our family everything we’ve ever wanted or needed. Perhaps they should open their minds, and they would find real love rather than a man with a paycheck.

Basic misunderstanding here that must be corrected. As I understand it, Laibel's vision is to have a Jewish podcast geared towards a broad audience, which includes people who aren't Jewish -- not to pretend that they're just another bro podcast. Hence "Two Jewish Dudes Take On Relationships etc etc.

Would have loved to see a wider spectrum of religiosity in the girls. Even though they may have come from different backgrounds, it seems like they all somehow ended up in the stage I call the "experimental journey", and it made the conversation not as dynamic as it could have been. Personally it shocked me how little regard so many had for shomer negiah, or at least, the amount of girls who considered it something impossible to actually do. I vehemently disagree with this, and would have liked to see someone else who actually has respect for shomer Negiah argue that point. over all great episode though, I know how hard it is finding real Yeshivish girls to go on a podcast like this. Still super entertaining.
@YLvids
@YLvids 4 ай бұрын
My thoughts exactly. And you don’t even need yeshivish girls to represent the pro shomer negiyah/anti premarital sex positions. Most middle of the road, modern machmir/modern yeshivish girls would absolutely have passionately disagreed with the stances of these girls.
@abuguchie
@abuguchie 4 ай бұрын
A more machmir girl wouldn't show up to this podcast in the first place; it's not very tzanua and might hurt her dating chances.
@YLvids
@YLvids 4 ай бұрын
@@abuguchie some would, some wouldn’t. I’m not talking about yeshivish. There are some very solidly frum girls who wouldn’t mind coming on a podcast, but would also strongly advocate for actual frum values.
@abuguchie
@abuguchie 4 ай бұрын
@@YLvidswhy would a solidly frum girl get on a podcast because a random guy messaged her on Instagram, where people are smoking, cursing, and talking about premarital sex, and asking personal questions that could hurt her dating chances?
@YLvids
@YLvids 4 ай бұрын
@@abuguchie many wouldn’t, and that’s perfectly respectable. But others would, because they’d want to represent the frum world in a positive light. There are girls who are a bit more on the chilled side, and would be fine walking into the lion’s den (and obviously not partaking in anything they deem inappropriate).

Regarding change - it’s about the core reason. Not the outside image. Loneliness is at the core for a lot of singles. They are looking for placeholders to fill a void. - they may go to the club, sleeping in, anything. Yet once they feel fulfilled - the action may change. If one is authentic to who they are - that’s the most important. The inside matters most.

The culture of New York Orthodox Jews is completely out of control, it feels like it morphed into an entire different religion all together. compared to the way I was raised and was taught, it’s a massive cultural shock. NY Jews love going to Pesach programs, waiting in line for food at restaurants, caring what people think, and sitting in traffic! It feels like NY Yidden have so much pressure to keep up with the Joneses and be like everybody els. It would have been refreshing to see girls from out of town like Texas or Atlanta, it would have been a interesting clash of culture

This podcast has questions like: "Would you rather a doctor making 300K or a plumber making 400K?" And responses like: "I'll accept a guy making 250K." God, these financial requirements are inane. A lot of actually married frum people in the real world are making do with 5 figure salaries, as in 50k to 80k, and getting tuition assistance from yeshivas etc. This blah blahing about 300K is the type of mental poison that will lead girls to have unrealistic expectations that will cause them either: to stay single, or to get married and ultimately get divorced when those financial targets are not realized. There is an increasing amount of divorce in the frum community. Let's be more realistic financially, and bring expectations down to earth.

Agree with Yaffa. You can see she has life experience. People dont change just because they are married if anything its harder. Men if you have issues with things that arent conducive to your spiritually or more importantly a commited relationship save yourself and your future wife's heartbreak when you inevitably relapse. Also as self- appointed representatives of the frum Jewish community in the online world, I think you lose respect with the cursing.

So as a 47 yr old married guy who stumbled on this, I remember having all these same issues and conversations. It’s all crap. All of you are going to change over the years when ur married, for better or worse. Sure there are basic religious things that people need to have in common, but the important things are not whether a guy goes to a club or not or whether a girl wears tight skirts etc. The important thing is whether he is a person of depth, whether she has a good heart, etc. Will he be a caring husband and father? Will she be a supportive wife? There are matters of the heart. All the rest are superficialities or things that will change over time. You have hardcore yeshivish types who burn out at 37. You have clubbing types who get into learning at 45. Stop thinking about these things and look deeper into the person you are dating.

Laibel, every episode of 'MislaIbeled' seems to circle back to the same themes. It's as if we're stuck in a loop of debates and issues that resonate with a very specific demographic-the yeshivish crowd questioning their place within their own system. And yet, you pitch this as a 'NON JEWISH POD'. The best part is when guests challenge you, like Flatbush Girl, out comes the Halakha card, wielded with precision unless, of course, it's your turn to bend the rules. As you reflect on the direction of 'Mislabeled', I encourage you to broaden your exploration into the diverse spectrum of Jewish thought and law. Becoming well-versed in various schools of thought will help you not sound like a DUMBASS!! Whatever the case keep on translating all yeshivish terms. Hoping that one day you might actually get a non jewish listener.

All these girls seem like great people. I feel bad that they sat here answering uncomfortable and personal questions. Alot of very inappropriate topics and lack of respect and boundaries given to the girls. These 2 guys are nice people but seem lost and have no clue how to treat a young girl and even more so should not be in charge of a podcast setting the tone for these guests.

Interesting that when discussing pre-marital sex and/or extra-marital sex not one person mentioned going to the mikvah [ yes, even for a non-married woman it would mitigate the niddah issue ] but it wasn't even mentioned as an aside or a theoretical as in, "if I guy told you that he had sex outside of marriage would you ask him if the girl went to the mikvah first?". Not even mentioned as a question.

Adore the attempt but you have the most homogeneous group of gals imaginable. All more or less the same background and religious levels, no one over 27, all from NY- without the divorced lawyer from Colorado, we’re getting the same basic perspective 6 times. If you do this again- diversify. I’ll find you great ladies❤

This is great but i think would have been more effective with a wider range of women who hold themselves to different halachic standards This happens to be a much more open minded group of women but the shidduch crisis widely effects women who are more machmir (and much more machmir) just as much as it does the women in this panel

100% agree. The shidduch crisis isn't for girls who hang out with guys. Those girls made their own crisis. I wanna hear from the girls who work their butts off to stay celibate and be a good girl and are still having a hard time finding a shidduch. Not a group of girls who effed around and found out. I personally know 4 different guys that one of those girls were with.

@@dfoaccount2384 i wasnt specifically expecting it to, but from what i understand, the purpose of this episode was to give women a voice and platform to share from their experiences and learn from them. However, if the purpose wasnt to hear from a range of women, they wouldnt have invited more than two or three to come speak. That being said, I’m suggesting they do a part two that has an opportunity to show a wider range of opinions that are based of off the girls’ various religious affiliations rather than mainly their personalities - this way the goal is 1) more affective 2) better reached and achieved
