My honorables are more interesting: Cool and Dre, Organized Noize, Exile, Kno of Cunnninlynguisfs, illmind, Q-Tip, Dilla, Alchemist, No ID, track masters, DJ Muggs, Neptunes, Madlib, Hit Boy… too many, been listening to hip hop since 89 but I tilt more towards the 2000s as I don’t know all I ever wanted soul samples then Little Brother’s The listening just changed everything for me. 9th has a lot of misses but just his shift so dudes like Oddisee, Nottz, Khrysis, Sabzi, Illmind jumped into that style and I loved it. Best producer live? Hands fucking down Exile. Dude just played entire god damn Below The Heavens live, mixing mpc, keys etc, next is Budo who played the horns, guitar, bass and turntables. Third is the forgotten group, Kidz in the hall, Double-O played pads, DJed, vocoder and also back up vox, then Premier just because he’ll flex his hits in shows, often playing the original sample, live mixing Ten Crack Commandments or Nas Is Like… number five if he counts is DJ Revolution of the wake up show, saw him with Pharaoh Monch, he does do some production. As pure scratch DJ with an MC, dude is about as nice as they come. He did a bit of modern stuff using pads to chop, live. Corniest even though I love his work: Stoupe enemy of mankind. Didn’t do anything really and when he tried to do a live beat chop, it fucked up and then his computer rebooted.

I've been saying that shit about Dre for years. Problem is, a lot of people don't know those dudes are making beats for him. I've always looked at Dre as more of a good engineer.
