As an Epithet fan who found out about Anime Campaign too late, I just feel left out. A good portion of the fanbase already knows upcoming characters and cool plots that will happen while the other portion is just lost. Someone compared it to only watching the film adaptation of a book and I couldn’t agree more. Jello himself has even said that the plot of Epithet Erased is planned to unfurl differently and even have some parts completely changed, not to mention that there’s already wikis explaining what happens in each episode anyways. It also sucks cause he still makes references to Anime Campaign when talking about Epithet. During the QnA of a panel he spent about 20 minutes confirmed which characters were going to show up and how while everyone else kinda just watched. Idk, just makes me kinda bummed

You two don’t really have to worry anymore with the Kickstarter, if he releases the two episodes that cover the current plots it’s very likely he'll eventually release the rest, just compare it to watching the movie and reading the book to compare like a film journalist

This has been on my mind ever since I first found out about Anime Campaign. I was actually an Epithet Erased fan first, but after I learned about Anime Campaign, I wanted to watch it. It almost felt to me like reading the book before watching the movie. Learning that it got taken down was a rough experience for me, and I ended up finding the mega drive after searching like crazy for any archival of it. I watched the whole thing over the course of a couple month (those episodes are long!) and to say that I loved it would be an understatement. I really hate the way people, including Jello, talk about Anime Campaign as if it will ruin the Epithet Erased experience, because for me it only improved it. I’m still deeply invested in Epithet Erased because I’m excited to see how they will adapt certain things, and I absolutely love comparing the characters to their counterparts. I’m actually pretty active on the wiki and helped clean it up after the “epithet purists” or whatever you wanna call them vandalized almost the entire thing. I feel like most Epithets Erased fans have the wrong idea about Anime Campaign, and it’s getting a bad reputation over no fault of its own. I’m pretty much rambling at this point, but I just feel very strongly about both of the series and the characters, and I’m happy someone is addressing the issues that have arisen due to the removal of Anime Campaign.

Epithet Erased is probably what I'd consider to be my favourite show of all time. I was incredibly excited when I originally saw the opening, and eagerly waited the series. Due to being in Canada, I had no access to VRV, so I was stuck waiting for the release of the series on KZfaq. Let me tell you, for those months, Friday was what I lived for. I got so excited when Friday came around, I watched the new episode right after getting home from my hour long bus ride from school, and talked about it with my friends who I annoyed the hell out of the entire weekend, while scrolling through all the new fanart people had made for the show. It was the greatest three months of my life. I had never heard of Anime Campaign before the announcement of Epithet Erased. It was during the wait for Epithet Erased to be released, while I was doing research into the show, that I found it. I grabbed a snack, sat down, and watched the first session. It was.... Great. It was amazing. I can't even begin to describe how much I loved it. But the second session was so goddamn cool as well, even better admittedly. What a fantastic world they've set up, a great story, improv that had me chuckling all the while. I got about an hour or so into session three, but it was getting late, and I had school the next day I didn't want to be dreading my existence while, so I closed my laptop and went to bed, thinking about what could possibly happen next. Anime Campaign had been taken down the next day. At the time, I cared a little, I was excited to see more, to experience this no matter how long ago it ended. Now, I'm a little more than upset. I'm a huge Epithet Erased fan, and a sucker for the process. Anime Campaign, no matter how little of it I saw, is not the same as Epithet Erased. I'll probably always enjoy Epithet Erased more, and hold it to a higher standard, but I don't want to forget what came before it. Anime Campaign is the blueprints for a masterpiece, but in its own regards it was already a masterpiece. One that I want to experience.

I learnt about anime campaign after checking out the TV tropes page. Took a while to found it but then I saw it uploaded on youtube, watched it and loved it. They both have their own good qualities. Epithet Erased has great audio, solid writing, the backgrounds are beautiful, etc... but there is someone just so pure of a bunch of friends playing a D&D like game together, improvising based on the dice rolls and seeing the creativity of the characters. It is annoying that the videos were taking down but with a bit of searching, they can be found online, Anime Campaign will never die!!!

I'm so glad someone brought up the well watcher scene that was my favourite joke from Anime Campaign and I'm so mad it didn't appear more in Epithet Erased I would say Epithet Erased CAN have its own improv moments, one example being crusher yelling "I LOVE YOU" at Giovani which I heard wasn't scripted, although I agree that the vast majority of the time that can't happen.
@maisybray3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I watched this video on a whim while looking for other stuff... But I gotta say that this was a great way of showing why Anime Campaign should be more public to people nowadays, even with Epithet Erased being out. One thing I do want to say about it being completely deleted is that well... they are still around. I'm probably not the first person to say this of course, but there is a MEGA file with all of the Anime Campaign streams in them (Well, at least 1 through 8 obviously, episode 0 is still lost to time). I'm not going to say in a KZfaq comment how to get to them, but I have the links and willing to get in contact if you have trouble actually finding them. Great video man, Keep it up!
@radiovillain97903 жыл бұрын
I did find that MEGA file thanks to someone on Twitter and while it is nice to have as people can still find the series and view it (Albeit on a middleman platform), it still isn't exactly the same as it requires access to MEGAS less than optimal video streaming service or a spacious and long download to view the video's. Both these problems could be avoided (and wouldn't even be problems in the first place) if the videos were still up on the channel. I do appreciate the series having been archived and preserved in some way, but even still it is less than an ideal method of safeguarding. And I do still hold true to the points raised in my video as at the time I didn't know about the MEGAs file and they all still do ring true, particularly about artistic preservation and Death of the Author when it comes specifically to older works.

I found it on internet archive and I really love it! I feel really bad for my siblings though. Something they loved was destroyed and barely anyone noticed. In fact, it was one of their comfort rpgs. One of my siblings told me that whenever they where upset, they’d watch anime campaign to cheer themself up. One day they where upset and looked it up, just to see it was gone. And that only made them more upset

Minor flaw in your argument: The well scene jokes in EE ABSOLUTELY landed for me, I have no idea what you're talking about when you say it didn't translate well. I later watched the 1st episode of AC from a list on KZfaq, and both versions of the scene work equally well.
@ella_cupcake2 жыл бұрын
That scene itself might work, but I loved how it became a running joke for that episode and the entirety of the series, and Epithet Erased doesn’t have that
@JK7H2 жыл бұрын

Your Video itself is a little hard to watch here and there but overall I do agree with your points. Both Epithet Erased and Anime Campaign have wildly different ways of telling their story that it makes the two have a different viewing experience.
@GameHero1523 жыл бұрын
The presentation is a bit off, I get the sense you're trying to go for a DaftPina style with the monotone voice and some awkward pauses, which I don't think works very well, especially when the words you say about the passion and love you have for Anine Campaign aren't really reflected by the tone, but the content itself is pretty good. You make some really good points of how the two things are different despite telling a similar story with the same characters due to inherent differences in the mediums, and that even if a creator considers a predecessor work to be of less quality, it still has value. Wonderful video.

16:52 I think Dan Gansly can still work it EE. Probably not as well, but all he needs to be is just a charm of bad luck which can be done well in a story with proper writing. His bizarre and confusing past experiences are honestly just solid jokes most times as he watches the events around him unfold much like the origami disaster of 1989. His slotmachine gun could sill reference the wild magic table by landing on the number his rolls would represent on the AC wild magic table. They'll likely be unimportant unless jello want the secret character of shadow cop to be revealed. Though the story will be planned Dander Fun Gansly can probably still cause an issue with the events that are happening. Don Infusio would be great if jello got a legitimate roll20 sponsorship. 15:30 crime McGoo's blue canoe. 20:20 only because of his ending finally making a universal stamina currency... that was instantly made useless. 25:05 nope Slim died in the moot realm. Ramsey confirmed he was canonically dead.

3 years later and still dont get why the fanbase is disrespectful about his wishes. While valid points at the end of the day its a casual game that friends slapped together you actually aren't missing out on much as ive seen the beginning myself. Jello explained even further in the reuploads this and people who feel like they missed out was only over the backlash to me. And while a crap ton of stuff is going to be changed i think it's not worth it imo even if some jokes landed better. Im not here trying to put your opinions down especially when it was nothing but respectful but coming across this again made me want to comment
@ella_cupcake2 күн бұрын
I can definitely understand that, and I also don’t want to put down your opinion, but if you don’t mind me saying my opinions as well, it’s not just about the jokes to me. Just watching the beginning won’t show you this, but I actually like the characters a bit better in Anime Campaign. Maybe they’ll be better when we see more of it release, and I haven’t read the book, but I’m just going off of the show for now. The best example is Giovanni. I feel like in Epithet Erased he starts off being a pretty decent guy, he’s a crook sure, but he’s nice to Molly and his minions and all that. in Anime Campaign he honestly starts off being a lot worse, he’s mean and self centered, but he gets better over the course of the series and that’s really satisfying to watch. Again that’s just my opinion, I don’t think Jello wrote Giovanni poorly or anything like that, he just took a very different approach to the character that I personally don’t like as much. I think if watching it is going to be worth it to you or if you’re going to feel like your missing out mostly relies on how much you like watching TTRPG campaigns to be honest. Anime Campaign and Epithet Erased are both good, and which one you like more is all about personal preference. Wether or not anyone who hasn’t seen it is missing out though, I think artists and creators hiding their earlier works can feel like a bit of a slap in the face to fans who found them through that. (Again I want to make it absolutely clear I’m not really trying to argue with you or say you’re wrong, I just enjoy this type of discussion)
