Besides Drake and others sampling their music, EPMD talks about close friend LL Cool J throwing subliminal disses at them, and some back-in-day misunderstandings they had with another comrade, Rakim, that could have turned physical. In 1988 I was in 9th grade at Kettering High School in Detroit when the Golden Era (The greatest era in Hip Hop History) was in full gear. BDP, PE, Rakim, Mc Lyte, Eazy E, Too Short, Big Daddy Kane etc. But of all the great albums that came out in 1988 (the greatest year ever in Hip Hop) EPMD's Strictly Business album was to me the best Rap album I had ever heard and got the most play from all the hood niggas and drug dealers in Detroit. From 88 to 92 EPMD was my favorite rap group, and to this day I still cant stop bumping the Strictly Business album. Erick and Parrish Makin Dollars, love yall dudes, the greatest Hip Hop duo of all time 💪 💪 💪

If you actually listen to the parts where they speak about hip hop needing some type of union that preserves the factual history of the culture and maintain great care and honor of the the actual pieces of art and their creators without getting into minor differences and so called "beefs", then it feels like this culture we hold dear might just survive intact. IF THERE IS ANY WAY WE CAN SUPPORT THAT AS FANS, im ready. Ps, great episode!

To me as far as Rap goups are concern. I think EPMD are like the Drum and the Bass. While the drummer brings the rhythm, the bassist brings the groove. A bridge between rhythm and melody, the role of the bass player is to connect the drums with the rest of the band, laying down the music feel and giving harmonic context to the rhythm.

Around the 1:40 mark...I was at that show in Fayetteville NC with EPMD and Special Ed...the show was hot. I love Special Ed who was nice at the time but I would have to admit that he was saying a lot of slick stuff on stage. It kind of felt like he was trying to impress the ladies by taking shots on the guys in the crowd. I remember him ending his performance with a freestyle and the last line of that freestyle was him inviting the local ladies to his hotel room at Howard Johnsons on I95. I pulled up to the packed out after party in the hood and it was soooo packed but unfortunately I almost lost my life. As soon as I parked I looked up all I saw was people screaming and running directing towards my truck. I noticed that some of the people running were Special Ed's dancers that I just seen on stage performing earlier. Then the gunshots...it sounded like a million guns were going off as I ducked down in floor of the truck...Court Boys ran Fayetteville at the time and they didn't play around. I still don't know how I got out of there intact with no windows shot out..Thanks to God!
