Epoxy Serving Tray

In this video I make an epoxy serving tray. I usea some left over oak that was intended for a lazy susan. It didn't work out for the lazy susan so I repurposed it for this project.
I used Pro Marine epoxy and Black Diamond Pigmints Merlot for this project.

very nice, I am impressed. What sort of oil do you use and is it heat resistant and food safe?. Also putting the fan on the resin, does that keep the pattern in it as it cures?

Looks fantastic! Does running the cured epoxy through the planer cause any damage or other issues with your planer? Also, what kind of oil are you using?

Nice video, just found this channel. Why do you attach the feet then finish? As opposed to applying the finish the attaching the feet? Just curious.

I am normally finishing these on my workbench, which can get dusty so I like putting the feet on before I flip it over so dust doesn’t get stuck to the wax and oil finish.

and was the fan to heat the resin or cool it during curing time

Neither one. It's a Heat gun to Remove the bubble

So what do you sand up to? And you just apply oil finish to top? I'm having issues at this step...I'm sanding epoxy up to 7000 but do I need too? Or just 320/400 and then oil finish on top idk

Great question! I sand with micro mesh up to 12,000 but only when I want the epoxy to be crystal clear. On projects with colored epoxy I only sand up to 320 and then apply the oil.

What kind of oil? Tung? I’ve found it fills the resin and I’m afraid to try something else but everyone uses different oils🤪
