Thanks for the informative video. I have been scanning hundreds of family photos that were stored properly for decades and remained dust free. I still found dust build up in the interior of the scanner after a week of use. Would using compressed air to remove dust and debris be as effective as using a cleaning cloth?

Thank you for your question! We recommend you do not use canned air as it could put more dust into the scanner. Best to use the supplied cloth or a vacuum to pull out the dust.

Can't get rid of the dirt that is detected on the glass surfaced inside the scanner despite using the official Epson fluid. Only 17,000 scans. Very seldom do I see a streak when looking at the photo in Photoshop. What can I do to eliminate the possibility of getting a few scratches per 100 scans? I already clean the glass every 100 scans, but still get the message 99% of the time.

I clean my scanner glass and rollers frequently but I'm still getting lines in my scans. What can I do to eliminate those?

Here's information on that: files.support.epson.com/docid/cpd5/cpd55191/source/scanners/source/cleaning_transportation/tasks/replacing_rollers_es400_500w_ds530.html If worn-out rollers aren't the case and you've done all the troubleshooting, please reach out to support to check the warranty status. what can i use to replace the lint free cloth that came with my scanner? Also, what is the point of unplugging it or even powering it off?

Hello! You can use any other lint-free cloth - this is to avoid getting specs on the unit. From our user guide: files.support.epson.com/docid/cpd5/cpd55191/source/scanners/source/cleaning_transportation/tasks/cleaning_scanner_input_tray.html Cleaning Your Scanner To keep your product working at its best, you should clean it several times a year. Caution: Do not use a hard brush, alcohol, or paint thinner to clean the product or you may damage it. Do not use oil or other lubricants inside the product or let water get inside it. Do not open the product's outer case. 1. Turn off the scanner and unplug the AC adapter. 2. Disconnect any connected cables. 3. Clean the outer case with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or chemical cleansers. Note: If the outer case still requires additional cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth to wipe the outer case. Then wipe the case with a soft, dry cloth.

Hi guys! I switched on dirt detection, and was getting it every single scan. Switched the frequency to low, but I'm still getting it after every single scan despite listening to it and cleaning the glass w glass spray and a glasses cloth. Majority of my scans are fine, bar maybe one or 2 but I'm not sure whether it's noise (esp in photos with lots of black areas), physical damage to the photos that the scanner picked up or dirt. How eo I srop it doing this all the time? I want to be notified when I need to clean it but not after every scan!
