This is the best eq knowledge video I've ever seen! Seriously. And I've seen so, so, so many. It's the ranges for masking, and definition of frequencies for problem solving! Wish I had this back when "The Art of Mixing" was the go to standard(was absolutely useless, unless you already have been mixing for 3-10yrs).

Make sure u have the best possible recording going into your software. All the processing in the world won't fix a bad recording. Mic position, distance from mic, settings on your preamp, ect. All that is the most important imo. After a good initial recording, everything becomes much easier. U will get it right. Practice makes perfect

I was like you, your problem might just be your room where the mic is,treat it with rockwools, also dont use the eyeball thing that was my problem after study for 4year and vocals still sounded bad
