Equanimity: The Gifts of Non-Reactive Mindful Presence, with Tara Brach [2020-09-30]
If we want to bring our intelligence, creativity and love into our relationships and world, we need to be able to access an inner refuge of presence. This talk explores how, when we’re reacting from anger, clinging or fear, to pause, reconnect to the immediate experience of “just this” and remember the love and awareness that has room for the changing waves of life.

Even for those of us who been practising this for so long, so many years, it is still very difficult to keep sacred refuge. These times have a way of confusing this quality and causing me feelings of insecurity. So thank you so much once again for your reassurance and support over the years. It's so beautiful to continue to share together. You're the best! 🙏💖🌌

Even when I'm walking the half mile to the nearest store, I walk mindfully, alternating with talking,(in my mind), to the trees along the way. I address the largest ones as, "Oh great wise one". I meditate on the slow, long, strong life of the trees. If my osteoporitic hips are hurting, I stop, do the calm/ease meditation, and ask them them to lend me a bit of their strength, just a tiny amount, compared to their great strength. I begin to feel better. When I start walking again the pain is less, sometimes gone for a while...💖🙏 Thank for being you Tara. -weezi-💖🙏💜🙏🤠

You bring tears to my eyes! It is such a relief when we can accept whatever emotion we are going through at that moment, because then we can take that time to try and love ourselves and not spend one more minute in reactive mind, fear and anxiety....why is that so hard to do and to remember? We are so conditioned to fight against our emotions, whatever they may be in that moment. Keep your jokes and humor coming! Love your stories Tara, you're a REAL person, and such a great teacher💟☮️☯️

Found the quote beautiful people There is a secret place. A radiant sanctuary. This magnificent refuge is inside you. Be brave and walk through the country of your own wild heart. Be gentle and know that you know nothing. Be still. Listen. Keep walking. No one else controls access to this perfect place. Give yourself your own unconditional permission to go there. Waste no time. Enter the center of your soul. ― St. Teresa of Ávila

Thanks always for the videos. If there is a almost always a misunderstanding in Buddhism and other spiritual practices there must be something lacking. ( recalling her mother’s mom). Usually, compassionate activists involved in human rights and/or animals rights can have red flags about this not enough emphasis in active compassion coming from most of the spiritual leaders, books and broadcast. If every time there is talk about love, peace, compassion, life ... it should be important to mention active compassion ( fighting in different trenches: donations, protests, signs, writing letters to activists in jails,, promoting political conversations as a result of being compassion and practicing Buddhism ...) . I know is important having a life guided with all these laws but if we don’t have our or others people lives in poverty, wars, hangers needs cover, through having legal democratic laws ( politics, voting, protesting...) this spiritual job leadership is not down to earth. And perhaps, some people will stop seeing spiritual people as hippies smoking marihuana.

Such a great meditation on equanimity. Share this with your friends who are confused about their place in their faith. So many do not even understand the spiritual necessity non-judgement in their lives. Isn’t this what Jesus tried to teach, only in a very different culture, language, and earthly time?

I truly question if "the news" is actually necessary? It is rarely "new", which is where I think it gets its name. Mostly regurgitated, strong & biased opinions is what I have witnessed from other people's chosen places of "news" consumption.
@BFNLEO
@BFNLEO 3 жыл бұрын
JJared 22 I agree with you. I noticed just the other day how little time and coverage an actual “event” gets, compared with the continuous parade of regurgitated “thoughts” on what happened , by people that aren’t even involved. I stopped watching the news a long time ago not even realizing why, only noting that it never made me feel good to watch it. I see many others that watch it out of habit. I am grateful every day to see things ARE changing! If I can be in control what I consume it can help reset my deep subconscious patterns. When I stopped watching TV altogether a few years ago my search for entertainment actually woke me up. Slowly but surely the information I needed to evolve was coming to me to in exactly the right time. I’m grateful to have all the outlets to seek knowledge. There was a time when media had few outlets and could control the information.

@@BFNLEO That is awesome! I'm so happy to hear you've had that experience with stepping back! Same for me, however, with my current living situation comes a household full of senior adults who are pretty glued to MSNBC, so I am getting a little taste of the bizarro skewed world of relying upon "the news." It is a very aware step to realize that we need to step away from things that don't make us feel good, even if everybody else seems not to notice adverse effects from it. I too am so grateful for all of our current access to outlets of information and knowledge! And for meditation and plant medicine and all the ways of consciousness expansion. : )
