Physics on Khan Academy: Physics is the study of the basic principles that govern the physical world around us. We'll start by looking at motion itself. Then, we'll learn about forces, momentum, energy, and other concepts in lots of different physical situations. To get the most out of physics, you'll need a solid understanding of algebra and a basic understanding of trigonometry.
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.
For free. For everyone. Forever. #YouCanLearnAnything

I know this is from three years ago, but you can express the graph that you gave as an example in terms of sine, assuming you shifted the whole graph to the right 1 unit (sec) so it would be like : 3sin ( (2*PI/4) (t-1) )

9:04 In my humble opinion, using 2pi/2 could be simply illustrated in terms of horizontal dilation i.e 2pi*λ=T so that λ=T/2pi, and hence 1/λ=2pi/T.

May I know why is the position graph starts at the maximum. Isn't it suppose to start at the point zero and form a sin graph?
@sarimkidwai2218
@sarimkidwai2218 6 жыл бұрын
Basically to bring the mass on the spring into motion, you have to pull it back a bit first right? So it's already displaced by how much you pull it back. That initial displacement is why at time=0, the graph has an amplitude maximum. And since the graph intersects the Y axis, (in this case the horizontal position X) at a Maximum at time=0, it'd have to be a cosine function.
@chrisbotos
@chrisbotos 4 жыл бұрын
@@sarimkidwai2218 You can also have another mass hit this mass when it's still and give it a Velocity. It really just depends on when you start the time ,but in physics we generally start the time at the moment the mass has x=0 and V=+Vmax

If frequency increases in SHM, so does the acceleration. But does it make sense that high frequencies impose such a high acceleration? How do you account for this biased acceleration given by high frequencies. For instance, for SHM, a=( 2*pi*f)^2. How do you account for the fact that lower frequencies have more detrimental effects that high frequencies?

7:23 why are we putting delta theta as 2pi? Coz as soon as the oscillator comes back to its original position at time T, the displacement is 0 and not 2pi? I'd be extremely thankful to anyone who can explain🙏

Govinda S well even if we consider the angular aspect, it object will be at the exact same spot again, (after going around the circle once), so wouldn't the *angular* as well as *linear* Displacement be 0, although the angular Distance travelled may be 2π radians or 360°?🤔🤔🤔
