this is great. people usually tend to accuse the horse of bad attitude and never want to investigate pain. my mare outgrew her saddle (she was 4 when we started and was still growing) and began kicking out under saddle. the people at the barn i was at made comments about it , like she had a bad attitude but i knew it wasnt. finally found a saddle with a wide enough channel to accommodate her wide spinal process. i was riding bareback or with a treeless saddle for a while because i couldnt find a saddle that fit her - and even then she would sometimes throw a small buck in at a canter or have her ears back when trotting or cantering. glad i finally found a solution - most saddles have a VERY narrow gullet channel and it sits right on those bones you're palpating.. totally makes sense why that would bother a horse. stuff like your videos are educating people to look beyond the common comments of people set in their ways!!

Good on you. So many ignore the fitting of a saddle to their horse. With sudden change in behavior, I always suggest calling a vet or checking the horse first.

This is a very well created video, with thorough and helpful information. I am, though, cringing at the horse tied to the panels.

Here’s a great idea. Take a horse with mild back pain. Now every time you see your horse test it’s back for pain. It’s gonna love it!

eh, 16-17 thoracic vertebra in the horse (on the diagram shown), that's not correct, they all have 18. And 6-7 lumbars is wrong too. They usually have 6, some horses (many arabs) only have 5.
