We have this horse at our farm now! I just happened to come across the video while researching some lameness issues on another horse. He is still doing geat with goals of becoming a 3rd level dressage horse.

Thank you for posting this! I have a 9 yr old appendix jumper who started moving EXACTLY like this about 4 months ago. Diagnosed with arthritis is the hocks and stifle. I am releived to see horses with similar conditions still have active sport careers!

Just because someone says in a KZfaq video that a horse in chronic pain will be a jumper doesn't mean that this is ok for the horse. A horse in pain shouldn't even be ridden as a pleasure horse.

Did they ever determine the cause of his lameness? I have a horse that displays the same issues.

just out of interest, why would you contemplate for a horse that is only 80% improved and still suffers residual lameness with possible SIJ or stifle problems to go into jumping? Or are you expecting it to eventually be totally cured?

+freddyvonrabenau1 Hi. This horse is a low level jumper and is currently about 95% improved when it comes to this condition. The exact diagnosis or cause of this lameness is not determined despite extensive testing and is thought to originate from an accident he had as a 2 y.o. The lameness is not necessarily pain based as he does not block out, but is more potentially mechanical. It does not get worse with increased exercise, no pain, but more so actually loosens up and improves with more work, thus leading us back to the conclusion of a restrictive type of lesion, potentially scarring due to injury years ago. He actually enjoys his workouts. Thanks.

But if the lameness improves with an anti-inflammatory treatment, doesn't that suggest this is a pain-related injury? and how do you block the SI?
@loricarden5 жыл бұрын
@@aluz827 I'm not sure you "block" it, you can inject HA and cortisone.
@daniel_moretti2 жыл бұрын
@@aluz827 I believe you can block the SI joint.

Jumper? Why would you jump an 18 hand TB with stifle issues?
@daniel_moretti2 жыл бұрын
Can you mention what you are seeing that indicates lameness in the right hind. I'm SURE it's there, but I would love to know what exactly you are seeing off in his gait. For less experienced eyes, it's difficult to see. Thank you!

I have a horse that travels very similar to this horse. she's a 3 yo QH filly. I got her on trade and love this little girl to death but is this an issue I Can fix? I have some videos on my KZfaq channel and can upload on of just her moving if it helps.

So this horse didn’t have any joint injections or NSAIDS or other treatment, he was only placed on the Cur-OST during those couple months?
