Industrial Revolution handed the new Mora Garberg with Survival Kit to the Equip 2 Endure team to shoot the first review video for it. Here it is. We also checked out the Mora Eldris and Mora Companion Spark.
PRICE ALERT: Be advised that we don't know where the final price will land at. Rusty took a guess but also acknowledged that we don't know what the long term Amazon price will be.
Overall, we are impressed. The Garberg does not feel like your typical lightweight Mora. The mass gives a feeling of durability and confidence that the tool will hold up and serve its owner well for many years. The Survival Kit component of this package ads Fire production and tool maintenance capabilities. A solid, meant-for-work package.

I just got my garberg tonight and it was ok. It was dull. You could see that the micro bevel was chipped or probably had some burs on it. I took off my pants belt and stropped it for 2 or 3 minutes and it got sharper. Out the box it couldn't cut paper; after the stropping it cut paper. I only paid 55 dollars on Amazon so it was a great purchase. Last month I bought the bps b1, made in Ukraine, for 30 dollars. It was the sharpest knife I ever got out of the box. So these are my first bushcraft knives and I think I have the best of both worlds. Mora stainless steel and a BPS carbon steel. Now I just have to go camping and find some wood 🪵🪓 to learn to carve spoons. 🤣🤣🤣 I have over 50 folding knives to do the finer carving. Thanks for your review. You made me feel good about my purchase. ✌️🦁 Hello from San Diego.

Even though the Bushcraft Black, is in my Opinion their best model for many reasons, it's the Companion that I always come back to!! I have named it the BEST budget fixed blade ever made!! I don't know of any other company, that is 100% Function and 0% Funcy bulshit, as Morakniv is... Their Kansbol/2000 is a better "companion" knife than the Companion model. The Companion, has a lot of hunting knife features, on it's design,. Because they kept the handle a bit thick though, and because of the scandi which works wood like no other grind, I should say that the Companion model, can be a decent Bushcrafting knife that can also double as a Hunting knife! That means, it's the perfect Trappers knife! So, I would rename the Kansbol to Companion and the Companion model, I would rename it, either the Bush Hunter or Trapper. The Mora Trapper!!

Awesome video, thanks for sharing. Just to give you a heads up, the Amazon link is currently showing the price at $119.99. For those that already have a Garberg or a Kansbol, you can buy the kit for your sheath separately and I have seen them running around $30 for those of us in the US.

I'm pretty sure the holes in the bottom of the sheath are designed for draining water/moisture, not a lanyard.. 🤷‍♂️ great video! 👍
@greekveteran2715
@greekveteran2715 2 жыл бұрын
It works for both though! The models that have the 2 holes, all have the choice of a button strap, that adds extra security when carring the knife, and enables those 2 holes, to function for upside down neck carry.
@Darrenski
@Darrenski 29 күн бұрын
Yeah I'd agree they're drain holes. The lanyard hole is on the knife itself. It makes no sense to carry one of these like neck knife. It's too heavy and if falls out you either lose your knife or lose some blood depending on where it decides to land. It's clearly not a neck knife and no one with any common sense would ever use it as one.

@@Equip2Endure I've read elsewhere on forums that yes custom are complete muppets and will very likely seize the knives and destroy them when shipped. The safest course is through local sellers/shops. But of course they are greedy and charge an absolute premium price. Same with archery gear and accessories with regards to pricing only. We suck!

Another knife that is similar to the garberg is the Harnds Forester. Its 10bucks cheaper and has what looks like a better sheath

Thanks for watching and chiming in, Spoken! Where's home base for you? I just checked Amazon again and it showed the Garberg as a couple bucks cheaper than the Forester. but yes, it does look to be a similar knife. Most bushcraft knives have that 4+in blade, 1/8th-ish thick blade, a scandi grind, and gently contoured handle. Hopefully you enjoyed the vid! -Rusty

So, years later Morakniv has finally done the same thing with the Garberg as they have been doing with the Bushcraft Black since it was released. Sheath with ferro rod & sharpener. The Garberg is a good knife but over priced. They are essentially $200 in Canada. I'll stick with the Bushcraft Black, Condor Terrasaur or Verestullekka (Sp?).

Thanks for watching, @Imightberiding! Yes indeed... there are plenty of great bushcraft knife options out there. We just try to give products an honest assessment when they end up in front of our cameras. Hope it was an enjoyable watch for ya. -Rusty [P.S. I still find myself reaching for my "lower end" Mora's because they get the job done and if they break, it doesn't break the bank. How about you?]

@@Equip2Endure I enjoyed the video, even though id realistically never buy this knife, i thinik you explained the knifes pro / cons very well. I have a nice Finnish Pukko that i was gifted when i worked over there a couple of years ago. I'd be absolutely mortified if i lost it. So yeah I tend to gravitate towards my Mora Companion, just because if i do lose it, its £20, and i order another one!

Design 7/10, materials 3/10, price 5/10 Way far from the "BEST" more so from "Ever built" Bushcraft Black for example (same company) Design 8.5/10, materials 4/10, price 8/10. Garberg, is a "marketing trend knife design" It's designed for the theoritcal purpose, of "Survival" not for practical reasons, that we use a knife a veryday for, as most of their knives are. In the same time ,even for that reason. the Garberg would still be a decent tool, ONLY in a woods enviroment (That's why all "Survival knives, come with general use Saber Flat grinds that are also the more robust ones, rather than specilized woodworking grinds, that the Moras come with) So.... yes, it can be decent, in a theoritical scenario, where you are RAMBO, trying to survive in the Woods.
