This is a class of mid 6 second to mid 7 second 3/4 chassis imports and stock chassis domestics on radial tires.
The semi-finals and finals played out in unique fashion when both Steve Willingham and "Mustang" Mike Modeste opponents where both broken and could not make the call, so the racers agreed to both just break the beams in the semi-finals, push the cars back then line up for the finals.
In the end Mustang Mike who struggled all thru qualifying, and qualified dead last, took out the top qualifier in round 1 en route to victory over Steve Willingham.
