In this week’s episode of Backstage Dodgers, Eric Karros discusses his career with the Dodgers and how he transitioned from player to broadcaster and Justin Turner gets mic'd up on his jersey giveaway night.
The Los Angeles Dodgers franchise, with seven World Series championships and 24 National League pennants since its beginnings in Brooklyn in 1890, is committed to a tradition of pride and excellence. The Dodgers are dedicated to supporting a culture of winning baseball, providing a first-class, fan-friendly experience at Dodger Stadium, and building a strong partnership with the community. With the highest cumulative fan attendance in Major League Baseball history, and a record of breaking barriers, the Dodgers are one of the most cherished sports franchises in the world.

EK was and is still my all-time favorite Dodger. His work ethic was amazing. I like that he was not the flashy guy, did not really celebrate when he hit home runs, heck I think he only got thrown out of one game., Bad strike call by Bill Mueller in New York. Now it is a pleasure to hear him broadcasting in a regular basis. I love Joe as well, he is the "pro", but Eric is just like talking with an old friend about baseball. Love Orel too, wouldn't mind hearing all three in the booth together at some point.

That would be awesome to hear the 3 of them do a game together. EK with the commentary & analysis from a hitters perspective, and Bulldog from a pitchers point of view.

I am happy to see Eric Karros with the Dodgers again. He was a great player during his career with the Dodgers and I am happy he is now broadcasting Dodger games. I wish him a lot of good luck.

Really nice to see "Fabio" back working with the Dodgers. He and Piazza were a great 1-2 power punch in the batting order back in the 90s.

Eric Karros is my All Time Favorite Dodger. My Generation is the 90's. The Dodgers produced 5 Rookie of the Year Awards. No World Series. 😱 😢 It's okay. It was a Great Decade. He will always be known as "The Best Hair in the Game". ⚾️👍

I grew up watching this 90s teams, too. Very frustrating; they didn’t even win a playoff series. They had some decent teams and could’ve competed but I guess it wasn’t meant to be when the likes of Atlanta & New York were playing.

@@baronvg I agree. No Playoff Wins. But 5 Rookie of the Year Awards, Ramon Martinez's 18 Strikeout against the Braves. Yeah I'm Mad there was No World Series Title but The 90's Dodgers were my Team to beat. ⚾️👍

Likewise. I grew up with the EK, Piazza, & Nomo Dodgers…The 96’ playoff team was really solid…and of course 93 when Piazza went bonkers against the Giants on the last game of the season to smash their playoff dreams 😆🙌🏽

@@randygonzalez7439 Ramon Martinez also pitched a no hitter. Not to mention the one from Nomo in Denver or even Kevin Gross’ no hitter haha

Eric reminded me so much of Steve Garvey. I was a high school freshman when Eric started his career with the Dodgers. Wish the Dodgers would retire his number. Should have been an All Star at least 5 times. Put up very good numbers in a Dodger uniform. He's favorite Dodger of all time.

Nice segment with the Brett Butler cameo. My 1st Dodger game at Chavez Ravine in 91’, Butler was hitting lead off…The 96’ team with EK, Piazza, and R.Martinez was a real good squad …It’s definitely cool to hear/see former Dodger players doing commentary in the booth 👍🏽

When I started watching baseball seriously, as in following the team for a whole season), Eric Karros was a rookie and I latched onto him. He’s the only players jersey I have (custom Karros 23).

Dudes been retired for like a decade or longer. He went from dodger player to retired to announcer. Not player to annoucer

He has actually been retired from baseball since 2004. He went into broadcasting the same year. He has been doing national games for Fox in the booth and as an analyst in studio. Also worked for ESPN around 2006.. point is he did go from player to broadcaster.
