Some teachers don't like kids. And I'm pretty sure throwing out an Asian snack that belongs to an Asian kid is a hate crime (or can be considered racial bullying). And if not, it should be.

@@canaisyoung3601 I don’t buy into the hate crimes thing, unless someone has a history of it. Some teachers are just a$$holes. And mean to everyone. If he/she throws away American food from an American child, it wouldn’t be considered a hate crime. Or from many other nationalities. Only certain “nationalities” are going to get that privilege of getting to call it a hate crime. We’re all human on this freakin’ ball called earth. And we just all need to be kind to one another. 💜🙏🏻

Good lord, that sad excuse of a 2nd grade teacher. I'm glad that a lot of the bull crap that some teachers did to their kids will not fly anymore in today's times. And Eric's right, Yan Yans are delicious, I absolutely love them.

The cake is such a core memory! It’s not as sweet as American cake, and the Cool Whip type frosting is so light and fluffy. I’m half American and half Korean, I lost my Korean half and I’m sad for my kids. They won’t know know the joy of the cousins and the family getting together. It is what it is.

The Yan Yan story broke my heart :(. What kind of a teacher is that?! I love Yan Yan... So do my kids! I can't believe you got Orbitz. My dad sent me off with a whole case of that when I went off to college. I don't remember how it tasted. But being a broke college student, I ate/drank whatever was free.

Orbitz only ran from 1997-1998. 100% good call on not drinking it. Also the little balls are apparently something called gellan gum, and they float the way they do because they are basically the same density as the water. There were some great looking flavors though, including pineapple banana cherry coconut, and black currant berry, and blueberry melon strawberry. Obviously Rhett and Link need to have this in their next retro snack taste test. Send it over to Mythical!

1. Omg the teacher is horrible! That would NOT fly if it happened today. 2. I can’t believe they found orbitz! I loved drinking that in junior high ❤️ 3. The rainbow cake at Paris baguette is the best cake of all Korean cakes. If you haven’t tried it yet, try it ASAP. You’ll be thanking me for sure 👍

In the UK Yan Yan's are just called Choc Dips. Been able to buy them from sweet shops for as long as i can remember (i'm 30). I used to love these as a kid, i had no idea it was an east asian influenced snack.

Eric Nam 💜 I’ve tried everything but that particular brand of sweet potato chips. Yan Yan is awesome. Shame on your teacher. lol I loved Clearly Canadian better than Orbitz. Loganberry was my favorite. Every year for my birthday, I go to the local Korean bakery and buy one those cakes. They are the best.
