✎ He grew up in Detroit, Michigan, raised by his mother, a single parent, and did not have a relationship with his father during his childhood or adolescence. At the age of 16, he dropped out of high school and lived homeless on the streets of Detroit. He was homeless for two years, and he would sleep in abandoned cars and find food in garbage cans. While he was homeless, he met a preacher who inspired him to go back to school and eventually change lives. He worked as an academic adviser to disadvantaged students at MSU. He also served as senior pastor at A Place of Change Ministries in Lansing, Michigan. Thomas obtained a master's degree from MSU in 2005, and a PhD in Education Administration in 2015. He as given motivational talks to collegiate and professional athletes. Lebron James has credited Thomas as part of his inspiration for winning the 2012 NBA Championship.

Eric Thomas is one of the best motivational speakers of all time simply due to his delivery. Others are great but Eric gets you fired up and hungry with a strong "quit crying" approach. Bottom line is, do you want it, then act like it and go get it but with positivity and no evil intentions. No excuses.

You can't be at peace with everyone because not everyone have the same intention with you or your loved ones. I always wanted to be the nice guy. I thought that was the key to happiness in life. Eventually, I got depressed because of not standing up for myself just so everyone will be ok with me. Now I know better. I don't hate anyone, but I love me. And I love my family and my future family. So, anyone who has intention to destroy my circle is not worthy of my time and my concern.

@@Brooke20268 First you find the video you want to play as your alarm clock, I'm assuming a few min long compilation video or something like that. Then you google "youtube to mp3" and convert youtube link into audio file via one of those websites. You download the audio file and put it on your mobile. After that, you set your alarm clock to use that mp3 file. :)

I started watching ET as a young teen. He literally showed everyone, "The Secret to success." I then got the opportunity to meet ET, and he spoke in front of a group I was with when I was about 15. I am now 20 and just now starting to implement what ET had taught me when I was 12, 13 years old. Procrastination, it kills. Get up and do what you need to be successful. Don't wait like I did! Have a great day! Be phenomenal!

This man COMPLETELY and ABSOUTELY sets me on fire. I've been following him for years, and his motivation keeps me going everyday. There was times of believing I was done, having to have someone take the weapons out of my house, going through therapy..... Man, it's hard and I have people around me that care. Dr Thomas has many heart wrenching speeches and one quote that comes to mind at the moment is "Greatness is upon you, you better act like it." And one more that resonates with me even at this exact moment as I'm typing this is "Productivity is intentional and deliberate. It's time to hunt." Taking action is where I am failing; I talk a good game and I have accomplished many outstanding things in the last 15 years in the Army and I read and am reminded about them often, but I just get stuck when I'm trying to get to that next level. But no more, it ends yesterday. If you see Dr Thomas, tell him I will pay for his dinner one day :) And Thanks for putting this together. -SSG Stoute
