_North Wilkesborrow may come back_ Rockingham: *You guys remember me right?* 🥺

Drove by North Wilkes a few weeks back, there was plenty of construction equipment outside of the facility (compared to years past which there was no activity whatsoever)

SRX immediately came to my mind when I heard of a national series coming to North Wilkesboro possibly as soon as next year. It’ll be some time before I think NASCAR would be able to return to the track

It’s always great when Dale jr returns for a race every year

If North Wilkesboro came back that would be sick, instant ticket buy.

I'm really happy with what nascar has done since 2020 it seems after almost 15 years of watching they're sport die they're finally listening to the fans and making some really awesome changes to the schedule the cars and the sport as a whole!

The SRX series, the wheeler modified series, and possibly ARCA series would be a great way to get that track back. I miss watching those races on that track. 😁

I love the sound of any race at north Wilkesboro. SRX is the only series that could make it in such a short period of time.

I could see the truck series do a race there with the SRX for a double header for nascar to test it with the lower series

I live about and hour from North Wilkesboro, stopped by there a few weeks ago and there was a lot of activity, a sign that said no pictures and video beyond that point plus a lot of posts by Jeff Hammond about what’s going on. I think ARCA would also be a great series to race there.

North Wilkesboro was my favorite track! Period, end of subject. I would love to see NASCAR back there. Unfortunately at my age I probably won't see it happen. For a racing league it is ironic that NASCAR is so slow to do anything especially change. Just Saying.

Some good news a couple weekends ago a lot of volunteer firefighters went up to the track and cleaned it up and looks 10 times better now

i waited for jr's race since may OMG its coming.

All I know is that whatever series decides to race there, I’m going.

It sounds like the distance the tie rod is from center of the knuckle is too close giving a very quick steering ratio with little feedback

I think SRX would possibly be not only the series they're talking about, but perhaps the perfect series to help the track. Because aren't the cars much lower in the horsepower compared to a NASCAR stock car/truck? If so, all they really have to do is repave the track, rebuild some bathrooms, maybe redo the pit walls as well as the broadcast booth and camera stands, then it's ready to go, for ticket sales to really help the track. Because, I'd reckon if it being low horsepower cars, they don't have to worry about a safer barrier (tire barrier or something if needed), and just worry about making the fans happy, and the track good enough to race, the ticket/concession sales will do the rest. Like for a garage, the teams can use their trailers and the tools they've brought. Basically, if they can get it to basic functionally with safety being checked and marked, with functioning bathrooms and concessions, then SRX will be perfect!

I'm lucky I'm going to Richmond I got tickets two both races and got pit passes as well I am so hyped

Usually when drivers appear on OotG its a sign that drivers will perform great on their upcoming races.

I think that NASCAR is making the right move if they go to Wilkesboro. Nascar wants more short tracks and is adding more new tracks, but lots of fans are saying that they want to see NASCAR go back to their roots. By going back to North Wilkesboro, they are going back to their roots, and adding more short tracks. Lots of fans would be happy, and NASCAR might get new fans in or around that area, and gain old fans who used to watch when the old tracks were on.

Hell I’m 17 and if SRX goes to North Wilkesboro then imma make my dad take me. It’s a must see event and if they renovate it there will be a huge amass of fans going to the track to watch the return. Not only great for the history and future of NASCAR but a great marketing strategy I believe

Wish I coulda found you at Darlington because I wanted to tell you about all the amazing things happening at Rockingham Speedway (I live in Rockingham). I'm disappointed by the lack of national attention the Rock is getting despite the new owners giving all they got to have tons of races and events going on out there. MB Drift, monster truck rally, racing schools, paintball tournaments, and in November is the CARS Tour Championship race! Rockingham has a better chance at returning than Wilkesboro (although I'd like to see them and Fairgrounds back equally!) but it's been crickets across the mass media when it comes to Rockingham.

I sure would like to see our Cup Series get back to NWS as soon as possible!!!!

My take on the next gen car is that it is going to benefit a handful of guys and their driving styles, and it's gonna hurt some, same with teams and crew chiefs. We may see a guy like Suarez or Stenhouse become top 5 every week for awhile, who knows. As for N Wilkesboro they already have support from the local population and their govt, they're hungry for racing to come back, they're not having to fight against members of the community like they are in Nashville. Both tracks need to come back for sure, but Wilkes county may not have other racing going on at the moment and getting the track back in shape means late models/modifieds whatever can run the track weekly and keep fans in the stands. I don't know if Tony, Ray, and their partners in SRX are quite the historian Dale Jr is, but I'm sure they understand the significance of the community and camping world (among others) voicing their support for racing to come back the speedway. With Nashville I just feel there's too much push back from the community to make that work, while in Wilkes county people are doing everything they can to bring racing back.

Maybe NASCAR can have the Whelen and ARCA series go to Wilkesboro next year as well

SRX should pick 3-4 tracks that are regular stops for them each season, and then fill out the rest of their short schedule with small tracks that don't usually get a lot of national exposure like say Berlin or Kalamazoo Speedways here in MI. The series is small enough to get away with it and it's a good will move that's bound to increase SRX's fan base.

The sport was built on short tracks so I like that they are adding short tracks but nascar is speed it needs big tracks and superspeedways I’m not the biggest fan of road courses but I still like them

Well, when it comes to what Davey Segal has heard about a series going to North Wilkesboro, while a lot of us are thinking it's the SRX series coming to that track, you never know. We could be seeing the truck series return next year, but we'll have to wait and see what happens. Until then, goodbye!

Keep in mind the switch to rack and pinion steering as well as a multi-link configuration suspension. They are t used to new modern tech.

Regarding William Byron's comments, I may be in the dark with today's NASCAR rules, but back in the day we were allowed to change steering rack ratios to adjust how quickly the steering wheel turns the tires. If he has a problem with the car being too responsive on large ovals, he should just run a higher steering ratio. Back in the day, when I used to race in the lower tiers of NASCAR, we had the options of anywhere from 6:1-15:1, I think because I never ran the high ratio steering boxes (if you don't know 15:1 is slow steering response or more sluggish 6:1 is fast steering response or more twitchy).

I've seen shots of North Wilkesboro when Dale Jr had iRacing profile and record the track and it needs a LOT of work on the surface and walls alone, let alone the grandstands and facilities. Unless they start NOW, the chance of racing there in 2022 with anything but a weedwhacker is slim to none. It looks like it hasn't been touched in 25 years and that cannot be turned around in less than a year with politicians involved.

I'd love to see North Wilkesboro Speedway be raced at by Nascar. I also think it could be a great place for theming. I'd love to see them play into the "history of Nascar". Maybe make a mascot likes Miles the Monster for Dover. I was thinking like an oak tree or something to represent Nascars roots or something. Maybe decorate it with the generations of cars that raced there like a mini Nascar museum. I think that if it raced well it could become a really fun event

Srx is a big possibility with Stewart and Evernham and their love for short track racing. Another possibility is the NASCAR modified series. They could definitely put on a good show.

Steering is about feel and feedback as well as effort. Surely they will have different steering gear ratios. Maybe they have it figured it out, but rack and pinion has always been more damage prone that worm and sector gear boxes.
