Because of the size of the text it can be a little hard to read when it's below. I think when it's top right it's easier to see but also if the season & episode fit into the title and can be seen without clicking that's even more important. So far it's been perfect but with something longer than "Back from the North Pole!" It might cut the episode number off. My opinion only of course but y'know.

This was the episode that started me down the path of realization that Penny is a closeted Trekkie. She recognized Leonard Nimoy last season, she went to see the new Trek movie without being dragged to it by the guys, and you will pick up on other clues as you go along.

What about when she’s says there’s absolutely no difference between Star Trek and Star Wars? A true fan of either wouldn’t say that. Maybe she watches it casually but isn’t invested in the franchise as the rest.

Proud to say that I was in the studio audience for this episode. Quite the experience, even though I had to wait for the Studio Executives to finish recognizing the cast for their first Emmys (now I can't remember if it was actual awards or just nominations) before a few of the long distance travelers (Wisconsin (me), Oregon, and ARGENTINA) could be seated. The late seating meant that I had to wait until it first aired to see the cold open.

I love Sheldon mom, not just because she's a religious person like me but I just love how the writers of the show analyzed her and Laurie did a great job portraying her. I love the relationship between her and Sheldon despite them having different opinions on religion because it's not a lot of scientists who believe in God, which I'm not even going to get into. But all imma say is everybody has their opinion just like she said

Kripke was being mean to Sheldon before that friendship thing, though. He's such a ridiculous character who keeps randomly showing up whenever they need someone to make a dumb comment or something. Which I personally think is hilarious, though, I kinda love him because of that! XD Anyway, can't wait for you to react to the rest of the season (a lot of legendary story developments and running gags etc.) it's probably my favorite (as it is a lot of people's, apparently, which I just recently learned...)

In case you didn't know for the first part of the shows beginnings the actors who played Leonard and Penny were in a real off screen romance but they kept it completely secret because they didn't want it to become an access Hollywood moment to take away from the characters on the show. They broke up but still did the show and no one knew until they were ready to let that little secret out

Okay, I copied this from my longer comment below b/c it got a little lost in the shuffle: For why Leonard might be so insenitive to Sheldon, Sheldon's emotions are erratic and come across as over the top to Leonard - it's a bit of a boy-who-cried-wolf situation. Because Sheldon blows up at so many innocuous things, when he gets hurt for real it's harder for others to take his feelings seriously. I'm not sure either side is to blame, it's just an unfortunate disconnect.

As much as I liked this episode and the season 2 finale, I can't have been the only one who was hoping an episode or 2 would be set at the research post. Or at the very least give us a few decent length flash backs scenes or something.
@kateorgera5907
@kateorgera5907 2 жыл бұрын
I mean the real mistake was going in the first place. It isn't as if Sheldon's behavior was surprising. The guys *knew* dealing with Sheldon would be a problem. Howard in particular knew they'd get to the point of wanting to murder him. They didn't listen to their instincts and of course it bit them all in the butt. This is why boundaries are important! Of course, it was hard to pass up the opportunity and this is a typical "set up the season finale with a dramatic event and undo everything at the beginning of the next season" scenario, so... (shrug) sitcom logic prevails. But Sheldon, who we see has been told since childhood that his behavior towards others isn't okay, also gets some karma of his own with all this. What the guys did wasn't great, and they should have told him the truth sooner. But as the conversation with his mother proves, Sheldon still can't move out of that victim mindset. In his mind, he's still the bullied, misunderstood kid, not the adult who is responsible for the way he behaves towards others. He doesn't, and perhaps cannot, recognize his own part in what happened. In fact, I find it fascinating that Sheldon calls Leonard his best friend here. I can't recall if he's ever expressed that before this moment. We know Sheldon doesn't consider Leonard his equal, so to be his best friend is curious. But we see the betrayal of trust, as much as the act itself, hurts Sheldon deeply. Sheldon is a big fan of honesty at all costs, so it does make sense. And Leonard, for his part, may not understand that. Sheldon's emotions are erratic and come across as over the top to Leonard - it's a bit of a boy-who-cried-wolf situation. Because Sheldon blows up at so many innocuous things, when he gets hurt for real it's harder for others to take his feelings seriously. The only consolations in this whole thing are 1. If anyone else had gone to the North Pole, Sheldon likely *would* have been murdered, and 2. It gave Penny the perspective she needed to try a relationship with Leonard. Even if it is doomed to fail, sometimes the only way out is through.
@vetarlittorf1807
@vetarlittorf1807 2 жыл бұрын
I think you're missing the point. See, this is probably the ONLY instance in the entire series when Sheldon's anger is justified. Why? Because while he gave his friends a hard time on the north pole, they should have dealt with it in a more practical and reasonable way? Such as, I don't know, stand up to him and call him out on his narcissism and ridiculous demands? There is very little that justifies them doctoring Sheldon's experiment. Especially one that, if successful, could've potentially been the biggest scientific breakthrough of the century. So it's easy to understand why Sheldon feels so betrayed. In fact, I don't think he truly forgave them in the end. He only chose to back to Pasadena because he doesn't want to live in the bible belt among creationists. Also, the guys would never murder Sheldon even if they made a plan to do so. In fact, Sheldon often does anger them to the point where they want to retaliate with extreme violence but they'd never actually do it. For god's sake, Sheldon literally saved Leonard's life once. You honestly think Leonard would try to kill Sheldon without thinking how much he'd regret it later on? Especially since he was raised by a mother who emotionally and psychologically abused him because she was so similar to Sheldon? And while it is true that Sheldon is a narcissistic, arrogant, self-centered jerk, he DOES genuinely care about Leonard even if he considers him inferior. The same way he cares about his siblings, whom he has even less respect for than Leonard. And in the finale he actually swallowed his pride and told Leonard that he owes a part of his success to him.

@@vetarlittorf1807 honestly, considering they’d known him for years, they very likely did originally stand up to him but years of dealing with sheldon’s behavior does tend to wear a person down so not surprising they’re more “passive” in dealing with him now. So I personally don’t blame them sometimes. Their behavior towards him, while not always right, is also a direct influence and result of sheldon’s behavior.

Of course Sheldon brought a razor and didn't share...it's Sheldon! From the nice groom he had it was likely an electric. Rest of them probably just gave up trying or caring. Not Sheldon. I don't spoil, but it's not a spoil if you already figured it out. Leonard and Penny's relationship will be a rollercoaster for a few years/seasons to come. Oh! And I too loved Raj giving Sheldon a small win by playing along to the force choke 😂

This is the only time in the entire series when Sheldon's anger is actually justified. I know his antics was making Howard, Leonard and Raj insane but they should've stood up to him at the North Pole rather than doctoring his experiment. Sure, the expedition was in vain regardless but at least Sheldon wouldn't have felt betrayed.
